Is the European Disney release sourced from a Fidelity In Motion master by any chance?

I wish every trace of these AI upscaled 4k abominations from Cameron could be sent down to the Titanic in an Oceangate sub.

I have got a whole lot of 35mm film strips from a projection print. I've shared a few here but they may have gotten missed, all hidden with the Spoiler tags. Happy to send you a whole giant selection privately somehow, if you're interested?

Here's a picture I've just taken from a book I have showing the original, and final shot of Jack & Rose running down that corridor with the stunt doubles & face replacement. It goes into detail on how they accomplished the shot, trying to match the faces from a bunch of different takes, trying to get the strobe lights to match up between takes and whatnot. Pretty clever stuff.

Also that other shot that gets talked about often, of Rose just before the flying scene - it was all filmed on a small soundstage against a green screen, with all of the separate foreground and background plates composited into a 1/4 scale model. I do not know why that single shot tracking into Kate Winslet has always been so smooth and soft-looking though. Maybe detail was lost when it went through the initial compositing process, being converted to digital back in 97, then printed back out.

Maybe those pictures are distorting the actual reality, but that woman stunt double looks abit bigger built than Kate Winslet, i wonder if Kate wasn't flattered by that. Haha.

I'm returning the US version and getting the UK version, always my intention I own the US version just because my supplier guy got it early. Weird preference but I like the Fox logo and fanfare a lot more

Good that they keep the original Paramount logo but it's drab and dull, they could've done the same treatment like the rest of the film, at least brighten up and enhance the colours a bit.

Why are you returning the US for the UK?

Oh you're right in this - the stunt woman was heavier set than Kate yeah. This is mentioned in the book too, how they had to replace her neck and everything since Kate's face and jawline were more naturally and clearly defined. Made the face replacement job a bit more tricky and involved!

Kate probably wasn't phased, she has always spoken highly of Sarah Franzl, the stunt lady I think she even mentions her in the new documentary that's on this 4K edition

When Titanic hit the iceberg, the ship went back, and to the left. Back...and to the left. Why did Cameron not address the theory of the Second Iceberg on the Grassy Knoll?!?

I might be in the wrong thread....

The wife and I are 2/3 into this, and other than a couple of VFX shots that don't age/upscale as well as the live action, I've seen or heard nothing to pull me out of enjoying the hell out of this for the upteenth time.

The shot varies, at one point it's just her face being replaced, at others it's a whole head replacement, they even had to comp in the earrings in some frames because they were bouncing differently from Kate's run to the stuntwoman's, and the strobe lighting wasn't matched across the two shots so that all had to be massaged into place. Even the water spray across their faces had to be erased then re-animated over the top. Insane shot for 1997 tech, absolutely insane.
