They also sold Kuro plasmas, one of the most sought after TVs ever made. Noone seemed to have a problem with BB carrying those. Why is it such an unpopular idea for people to be able to buy nice audio components as well as nice video components all at one place?

PS3's , Samsungs, Kuros and whatever else have been big box store from the start. that has absolutely nothing in common with what I mentioned.

If they had actually been anything other than mass market fare you might have had a point.

Im sorry just that your post made no sense. Why would you give up a product just because a certain store sells them?Thats like someone saying they would sell their 5,000 pair of B&W they had for 3 years because bestbuy was about to start selling them

BB sells Martin-logan, Vienna Acoustics, etc not too shabby. I really wouldn't consider them as mass-market wares.

But that's Magnolia BB's - they are a "different breed" of BB. I would like to see Pensacola get a Magnolia

They carry limited lines of both of those companies. They are only available to get up to the Mozart Grand from VA. If you want any of the larger speakers, you have to go to a local shop.

But there is no good reason to purchase from Best Buy unless you live in Minnesota (since it's corporate headquarters is there).

The name of Magnolia was destroyed by Best Buy when it was acquired. Magnolia Audio/Video stores were great on the west coast of the U.S. when it was own by Len Tweten.

The Magnolia Home Theaters insides "Best Tries" have horrible listening rooms with their switching device to choose source, amplification, speakers, etc. The magnolia "pros" are a joke that know nothing about audio or video.

So it doesn't really matter if Best Try is going to carry any brand. People should be supporting their locally owned shops to stimulate their local economies and keep the money working in their local area.

CasualKiller, i understand what you mean, and how you feel at the thought of a store like bestbuy carrying a brand name speaker company like Monitor Audio. but i wouldn't go to far and sell it for that reason. maby the company wanted their speakers to be sold to more people? i dont know. we dont know if they will be actually carrying it anyway.

Guys just think of something you loved that was underground, whether its a movie, a tv show, or even music, and then it went commercial. went to the mainstream for it to be shared by everyone. how did you like that?

Something like that i guess.

I think ck is saying when higher end gear starts getting more massproduced the quality goes down, also when shopping at bb you don't get qualified sales people explaining the equipment. Plus IMO i enjoy going to a specialized dealer for my gear it makes a more enjoyabe experience, the staff and other shoppers are more noledgabe and are there for 1 reason to get the best gear , best advice for there money.

+1 I agree, unless you go to one of those prejudiced salons, that size you up by the way you look - whether it be by color, dress (no tie - jeans) ect. the way car dealers do, then you're in for a bad experience. I remember years ago being miss treated at a salon - the sales people were smug, had sharp remarks, and didn't give me the time of day - I left. Then I came back a week later - with no intention of buying anything (I had found another salon that treated me right from the get go - I just wanted this one to know what they missed). When I pulled out a Gold card (that's when they first came out - so they knew I had a pretty good limit) they went crazy - offered to let me take speakers home without charging my card ect. I left with nothing - I let them know that their competition already had me - they had me so well, I started working for them (Goodtimes - Thank you Domes Audio Video Enviornments - one of the best jobs I've ever had and one of the greatest group of people that I have ever worked with)!!! So you can have different experiences, but in general - a specialty dealer is the best. Whatever venue they are sold in - Onkyo will always be Onkyo - but will you get the quality service of a well informed dealer and to beg the question, has the company itself (Onkyo in this case) dumbed down the quality to appeal to a wider audiance?

I think more than anything it is a business decision. Right now companies are doing anything they can to stay afloat, and having your products sold at Best Buy is sure to allow for increased sales.
