Great start to the series. The Robert Patrick
[Show spoiler]Terminator 2
line was priceless.

The season is off to a great start. The three episodes just flew by. Loved the Terminator reference. And loads of action.

I noticed from the Wikipedia article on the book the season is based on that it was set in California and not New York in the show. I guess it’s cheaper to fake New York in Canada than it is California? No big deal just a bit curious is all.

God I love this show. First 3 episodes didn't disappoint and set up everything nicely from the get go. Didn't know anyone other than Neagley but they set up the rest of the team nicely and they were all likable from the start.

Nothing needs to be said about Robert Patrick. He's always awesome.

[Show spoiler]Terminator
reference was great.

Season 2 is filmed in Ontario, Canada which looks nothing like California. Season 1 was filmed in Toronto, Canada.

Why Canada? Difference in currency exchange ($1 US = $1.34 Canadian) and Tax Credits.

The first three episodes were great. A little bit of a different vibe since he's part of a team the character already knows, opposed to S1 where he's learning about everyone the same time the audience is. Still...amazing!

I don't mind. It makes you appreciate a new episode more if you have to wait for it.

Depends on where in Canada. It looks like they're shooting in various locations around Quebec, so NYC does make more sense (especially in the Toronto area). Although some productions do use the Vancouver area to sub for NY (X-Files and Rumble in the Bronx come to mind).

Awesome start. Loved the Terminator gag & the One Shot reference. Liking the team dynamic so far, & it already looks like they spent more on this season than the first.

My only tiny niggle is the 'Reacher Explains His Thinking' monologues. Obviously they have to have some way of putting (what would have been in the book) his internal thoughts on screen, but some of them just come across a little stilted, for want of a better word.

Other that that, great stuff. Ritchson continues to impress & the rest of the cast is spot-on. I don't want to keep banging on about Serinda Swan, but dear lord...

Waiting for the rest of the episodes is going to be painful...

I just read the book last week, and have watched the first three episodes.

Question for those who have read the book (will put in spoilers)

[Show spoiler] I was surprised to see that these episodes contained basically the first two thirds of the actual book. Are any of you concerned how the remaining 5 episodes are going to play out? If it stays true to the book those episodes are going to crawl at a snails pace since it is basically the climax of the book.

If that isn't the case, I wonder what the show runners have in store?

Thoughts?

Yep. Also makes it easier to partake in the discussion when you don't have to watch the whole thing before hitting the forums.

Yup! So far so good! Wondered what direction they would take the 2nd season. Miss the ol' flame from first season a little, but this season off to a great start. whew!

Obviously, I think they’ll have to slow down a bit. I think they wanted to get people invested in the first few episodes and really start off the season with a bang.

[Show spoiler]Some things could be reordered a bit - some of the back and forth trying to really figure out what New Age is up to… They could potentially get a whole episode out of Neagley’s contact from DC who tells them about the Little Wings (I think that’s what it’s called in the books).

And, since they cast Robert Patrick as the villain I can see them adding some additional content for him and fleshing his role in the scheme a bit more.

Thanks, HockeySlasher.

What we have been given so far, I have a feeling that the writers are going to really deviate from what was written in the book.

[Show spoiler]For one, the helicopter being used looks like a military aircraft rather than a privately owned white helicopter.

Also, the writers seem to be trying to emphasize the previous investigation into the fuel situation that had been brought up twice so far, as well as the introduction to Reacher's superior. At first it seemed to be a throwaway scene, but I am getting an impression that the writers want to make this more than being solely attributed to retired local law enforcement officers as described in the book.

Wasn’t all that impressed with the 4th episode. Due to how they sped through the first half of the source material, I figured they’d slow things down a bit. This just seemed like too much filler.

The
[Show spoiler]Finlay cameo
… meh. Ok. I guess.

The worst part of the episode
[Show spoiler]for me though was the final fight scene. I think it was just bad editing. Very choppy with weird cuts. Could barely get a sense of what was going on.

Half way though S2, I think I prefer S1 more, but, that could be due to me liking the source material of S2 more than S1 some I’m pickier.

That’s a good point. I wonder where it will lead. I’m also curious to figure out if the showrunner switched out the name of Reacher’s CO for a specific reason, or the CO that we saw isn’t Garber from the books.

Bad Luck and Trouble is the only Reacher book I have read at this time, and there was no mention of his CO, only his team have been mentioned.

I’ve read them all. I figured since the show was doing the flashbacks it would make sense that Garber would be involved as his CO. Which would lay the foundation for some of the other stories/books that Garber is more involved in if the show wanted to go that route.
