hey all, my good friend Bill Cotter, who was in this film told me that the Walt Disney Family Museum just released Walt: The Man Behind the Myth on Bluray yesterday and said its an exclusive to the Walt Disney Family Museum website and doesn't know if it will be coming to Amazon and others retailers. He is not sure what special features are but as soon as he gets his copy he will be sharing the features with me. Enjoy

I ordered a copy and watched it on July 17, the day Disneyland officially turned 70.
As someone who's watched and rewatched the DVD several times, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the movie has been reworked for this high definition edition. The opening credits has been redesigned, with photos and credits placed differently from how they appeared in the 4:3 formatted DVD to breath better in the widescreen format ratio. Then, entering into the actual story, the widescreen ratio continues throughout. I actually stopped it during the opening shots of turn of the century Illinois and baby pictures to watch the opening credits and opening scenes on the DVD, to verify how the ratio has opened up between the two. Returning to the Blu-ray to finish the movie, it also appeared to me that droid footage of areas of Los Angeles and birds eye views above LA streets were newly shot and inserted into the movie between narrative chapters, to take full advantage of the the high def format. And speaking of high def, the documentary overall looks great on Blu-ray. I don't know if they remastered it, but it seems like they did what they needed to do to use their filmed footage to appear as crisp and clean as it could on Blu-ray. Finally, they added a new tag at the end of the film, featuring the Walt Disney Family Museum and new footage of Diane Disney Miller talking about how the museum expands on her father's legacy. Needless to say, I'm extremely satisfied that i double dipped on this. And while the Blu-ray will be my go-to disc for future rewatches, it does not have any bonus features. So I'm not getting rid of my DVD copy, which I bought decades ago from the 20th Century Music Store on Main Street USA in Disneyland. I did miss seeing the original black and white cover art from the DVD on the new Blu-ray. And being a slipcover fan, I duplicated that design on the custom slip I created. You can see it from comparison shots from DVD & BD on my Instagram post below. https://www.instagram.com/p/DMN8qyIvWHy/?img_index=1 |

Yes, the original DVD that includes bonus material has long been OOP at Disneyland. But the Blu-ray I reviewed with the updated 2016 version of the documentary I ordered last month from The Walt Disney Family Museum online store.
