Thank you to OceanBlue for bringing this release of Three’s Company + The Ropers + Three’s A Crowd.
I have already purchased each individual Seasons of Three’s Company when they were initially released and have always wanted a release of Three’s A Crowd on physical media, so needless to say I ordered the whole set immediately from VEI. What a wonderful Christmas present to myself. Thank you so much for the heads up of a much anticipated release. I wonder if this set will ever get a Blu-Ray release? In the meantime we will have The Ropers & Three’s A Crowd to enjoy. Merry Christmas OceanBlue & have a fantastic New Year. |

Usually he knows about these things before I do, but just in case, I messaged him about it. He actually wasn't aware of it. Even though we both have the previous release of the main series, we both placed orders from VEI's site mainly because of the inclusion of the spin off shows. While it was kind of a lot to pay, we got in while they had that initial price of $60, which they specified as being temporary. And it didn't last long, it's up to $70 now. I'm more pick these days on what I buy physically, especially double-dipping on something like an old TV show that I have in some capacity, but for whatever reason this one drew me in. Speaking of that friend, we were messaging a bit more today. I won't say the exact name of the group, but he is in a Three's Company group on Facebook. He was trying to put up a post about this release for people to know about it. Apparently others in the group had been trying to as well, but the admins were not allowing them to be posted. And then one of the admins made the post below. I have kept the admin's name out of the image (and again, I'm not giving the exact name of the group), but this is the REALLY ridiculous message that the admin posted, basically accusing VEI of being a bootlegger. There are some comments on it, but at some point the admin turned them off. I've seen no evidence of them being a bootleg company and not having licenses to the shows that they release. Also (while I'm not sure if it will be the case with this release), I'm not sure why this person thinks that a release having edited versions of episodes (by which I assume he means things like syndicated cuts) is evidence of something being a bootleg. While we always want to full original broadcast episodes, unfortunately DVD releases of old TV shows using syndicated cuts of episodes has been relatively common since TV shows on DVD became a thing, including releases put out by the actual studios themselves. And when it comes to these 3rd party distributors who license this stuff from the studios, they are often limited by what they studio gives them to release. |

![]() Either way I'm happy to get this since I'm still missing a couple seasons of the show and I've been holding out for a set that includes The Ropers. |

When a "spin-off" can be bad for your career = The Ropers.
Norman Fell and Audra Lindley had a good thing going on THREE'S COMPANY and I've read Fell was especially reluctant to leave a hit series for The Ropers -- and he was right. Fell and Lindley went from having gainful employment on a hit show in early 1979 to being out of a job by mid-May 1980 and having to find other work. Similar Trivia Nugget: Remember when Marla Gibbs was set-up to have her own series in 1981 called CHECKING IN set at a hotel? I remember Larry Linville was part of the cast playing the same kind of 'Frank Burns' character from MASH. When Checking In flopped in a hurry she was fortunate to be able to go back to The Jeffersons until it went off the air in 1985. Something Norman Fell and Audra Lindley were not able to do in regards to going back to "Three's Company" where Don Knotts had taken over in a singular role and, thus, only one actor needed to be paid as 'The Landlord'. |

Yeah, that was a messed up situation. They were essentially fired for being too good and never rebounded.
I personally thought they should've brought the Ropers back in some capacity and had Furley constantly hitting on Helen, her playing it up to try to make Stanley jealous and Stanley acting like he didn't care; but all 3 of them occasionally coming together to help "the kids." |

I can remember when this show first premiered in 1977.
Watched it pretty faithfully up until it ended in the 80s. Watched reruns pretty faithfully in the late 80s. Then, I took a long break over the 90s and early 2000s, but then rediscovered the show on DVD back when Anchor Bay was releasing it. I've been regularly watching it ever since . I have a whole boxed set of the series since around 2018 or so. It's among my normal semi-daily viewing. Yes, wonderful memories. |

I ordered and received the new VEI set. And given that it includes Three's A Crowd, I knew there was on thing that I had to check right away.
When the final episode of Three's Company originally aired (with the ending of it setting up and leading into Three's A Crowd), it ends with the show title appearing on screen and changing from "Three's Company" to "Three's A Crowd." The text for this is typically left off of reruns and the like. And while I don't recall offhand for sure, I assume that it likely was not included in the Anchor Bay release. Well, I am happy to say that it is included on this set. Here are some screen captures that I took of it. |
