Titanic was released in the United States on Friday, December 19, 1997. Less than a week before Christmas. I remember watching it at Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood on December 20th, 1997 and getting the soundtrack (on CD) on Christmas Day.

Just did an in-store pickup on this at Target with their current 20% movies Circle deal. Packaging and discs look perfect and I'm looking forward to watching soon, given all the positive things folks have said about this release.

Looks amazing at 4K on a laser projector, I'll say that much, image clarity is through the roof.

Great recommendation! This channel is a treasure trove. Their documentary on the 4K restoration of Asterix and Obelix (a film originally finished as a 2K DI) is incredible and shows what can be achieved with today's scanning technology.

If only Titanic had been restored from a brand new scan.

the reviewer is right..he, meaning the reviewer, went about it all wrong....

Just saw the image used in the BR.com review. I have a 35mm scan of the exact same scene. So here for comparison fun. I have no idea how color accurate the 35mm scan is.

EDIT: Whops, just noticed that the screencap by BR.com is from the 1080p Bluray and not the 4K.

I mean it did come out Dec. 19, but my grandfather got me the Standard Blu-Ray on Christmas 2017 so I make it a tradition to watch one of my all time favorites on that day

The cap was not professionnally scanned. Out of focus and crappy lens. It was to compare the colors.

I know how it was scanned and what it looks like, I'm saying your screencap and whatever you're playing it on is making it look not good. The scan looks better than that. Not sure if you're comparing with a different one or not but it's not out of focus. lol

I'm criticizing your screencap, not what you've taken a screencap of.
