Greed, sticking with an old/easy business, zero complaints their way, spotless QA/QC, those would be my guesses, I mean I'd take matte/opaque cases all day every day if that eliminates the issue, whatever "homo-polymer" means, sounds like a single/lone polymer not requiring mixing with others for desired results, if you take a closer look all Blu-ray cases are either glossy or translucent, you'd think that would have some degree of affect to it, and as I've said previously, matte DVD cases look less interesting on the shelves in stores, but that's solely my take on it, you see DVD sells the most and nowadays people buy mostly online if I had to guess, so maybe a non-issue when it comes to looks, I think you'd need a 30,000+ petition signed for them to even look at it, not sure, it's a simple question alright, may or may not be an easy answer, you're welcome to email VIVA and give it a spin, see below:

https://www.viva.com.hk/contact.php

info@viva.com.hk
info@vivacan.com
info@vivapackaging.be

Maybe two questions I sent to VIVA in Belgium (info@vivapackaging.be) answers your question, see below:

8) Can polypropylene cases not be made without the slipping agent, how come some blu-ray cases come with different amount of grease/residue, and how come Viva cases come with the most amount of grease/residue?
No, and Blu-ray has same (?), not sure why VIVA has the most… I don’t know how and if competitors make product.

6) Is the slipping agent really necessary in the molding process, can you not have the cases released from the molds by using pressurized air or mechanical force to remove the cases?
Yes, or you cannot remove product from mould.

Anyone order from Discmakers? Looks like Casetopia. It's been awhile since I ordered cases anywhere.

Casetopia??? Discmakers is an enterprise supplier.

In any case, I used them several times for the Elite cases in the past. Good company.

I don’t see Vivas on their site. Do you know if they stopped selling them?

They did, which is unfortunate because they had the best prices on them.

Is 6 discs the most you can get in 15mm size (4K)?

Does anyone know of a source for 4K cases for 7+ discs (presumably at the 25mm thickness)? I think I've seen a few 4K / black cases that hold more than 6 discs, but haven't found a place that sells them.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement case that's the same exact case used for The Jackie Chan Collection Vol. 2? It looks like Vol. 1 uses a viva elite case, and that isn't what I'm looking for.

Probably because not too many companies use them so there is less demand for replacements. I just noticed that I can't even find the replacement Scanavo cases anymore on the Criterion site either.

Is it possible to put the artwork from a 12.5mm case into a 15mm case ? Would it not look right ? There is a blu ray set with stacked discs that I would like to get, but don't want the discs to be stacked.

Yes, it's possible but it will be a bit short on each end and the shortness will depend on how well it fit the 12.5mm case.

How many discs are in the stacked case?

Four dics. Two disc stacked on one side and two discs stacked on the other. Yeah, it's blu ray and would probably be okay, but I just don't like stacked discs.

Looking for cases (either blu-ray or dvd) that can hold up to 14 and 16 discs.

According to this post from early 2020 by IndyMLVC they don't make them anymore:

You can find a few on eBay, but they don't come cheap (read: expensive,) last time I checked there were 3 up for sale (1x 8-Disc, 2x 9-Disc.)

While the seller does accept offers, it's most likely cheaper to buy the Predator 4-Movie Collection 4K and replace the 4K case with a regular 8-Disc Blu-ray case and then sell the box set.

You could also get a 14mm case, to make it look slightly better than a 15mm case.
If you want it to look even better, you could scan the artwork and with some magic (Photoshop or so) extend the spine a bit.
Depending on the artwork that may, or may not, be an easy task, not to mention that you'll need a decent (Laser) printer and the right kind of (Brochure) paper for a high quality cover (Or have a Copy/Print shop print it for you.)

hi,

Looking for feedback from anyone who ordered from Goodwood eshop quoted in the OP. How is the quality of their 4k VIVA ELITE double discs? do they occasionally have that awful offgassing that is sometimes present with packaged discs or do they come in pristine condition?

Also any occurrences with cracked or chipped pieces or broken hubs, etc?

Also, does anyone know the name of 4k cases that have a slight indent at the top of the 4k logo? I have noticed Paramount and Kino Lorber sometimes using them. They look so damn aesthetic and I NEVER received one that had offgassing. In fact they have a polished, almost gloss like finish on the interior of the case. Very pleasing to look at and doesn't have that cheap and flimsy look of common 4k case. Looks and feels very durable and sturdy

I’ve bought several Viva Elite cases from them—single disc, double disc, and more—with no issues whatsoever.

P.S., I’m convinced the phenomenon you refer to is not “off-gassing,” but residue from the manufacturing process that is supposed to be cleaned off at the plant but sometimes isn’t.
