You're grasping at straws there, Ben. Sadly, Paramount's encoding has nothing to do with movie length. You only have to look at stuff like 48 Hrs, Another 48 Hrs and Planes, Trains and Automobiles (97, 92 and 95 mins respectively) to see they look just as terri-bad as longer titles like Liberty Valance, The Firm and Fatal Attraction. It's simply down to very poor workflow combined with zero QC.

The only thing saving titles from looking like hammered shit is the occasional use of alternate authoring houses/teams, which is why releases like Wayne's World, The Running Man and their Miramax output seem to have survived unscathed. Plus there also seems to be some dumb luck involved, where Paramount's 'B-Team' don't completely screw the pooch, despite their best efforts - e.g. I thought Scrooged looked pretty good all things considered.

I love Mean Girls and would hate to see a streaming quality encode plonked on disc, so here's hoping we luck out and get the encoding 'A-Team'. That's the straw i'll be grasping at

PS This is why I love Hollywood's penchant for new sequels/prequels/cash-ins etc. They may end up sucking, but at least they usually get us the OG titles on the format. Gawd bless, Mean Girls (2024), I says
