Default Layd Dly's New HT Thread

Well since i never did a thread for my current HT, i figured i would do one for my new one. Since i cant build a new Bigger HT at my current place i just went ahead and decided to build a whole house instead. (...and we also needed more space)

Since my house is still currently being built, i cant really start yet but figured id get the thread going for q&a and ideas. Now this wont be a huge Custom Cinema Style Basement HT, as in the great state of Florida we are without basements, so this will have to do. However this one will be bigger than my current Bedroom HT and has a much friendlier layout. This HT is definitley going to be front projection, (Im even having the builder put in power on the ceiling for me ) Not even about to haul my 61" Sammy DLP up stairs, instead it will become part of my new living room HT and my 42" LCD will be banished to the master Bedroom.

The tough part will be getter decent gear for affordable pricing, high-end gear is out of the questions especially with my mortgage going up a bit, but i don't want the lowest end either. pretty much all purchases wont be made until we are in the house as we are still compiling money for all our closing & pre-paids and a few upgrades that we opted to do ourselves. So feel free to help out with affordable suggestions.

HT Equipment: Updated: Screen
Projector - Optoma HD20
Screen - Elite Screens Sable 16:9 120"
Receiver - Pioneer Elite VSX-23TXH
Speakers - Current Elemental Designs Setup (Upgrade to 7.1)
Sub - Elemental Designs A2-300 (Upgrade in Future)
Blu-Ray Player - PlayStation 3 for Now.
Consoles-Xbox 360 120gb Elite, PlayStation 3 Slim 120gb
HTPC - Custom Build for Media Center Use.

As of 8/14

Ready for gear.

Nice!

Which wall will you be projecting on?

I'm doing research into building a new house, and I love your layout. Kind of off topic and irrelevant in a HT/tech forum, but could you post a scan of your first floor?

Sure, it was already in my gallery but here is the direct link. And i will be shooting onto the wall in between the 2 windows so i will have ample access to seating and what not, nice thing is my house faces north so no direct sunlight in the big window, I need to figure out a decent solution to be able to black out the other window as well that is easily accessible since it will be over the stairs.

Thanks man, sad thing is i never got to finish what i planned. Once we decided to buy a house i stopped everything, but o well all the merrier . Now i will finally be able to upgrade and get it looking the way i wanted my first one to be and then take it a bit further.

Also updated a couple pics in the OP and in my Gallery.

Im hoping to see majority of electrical done by Tomorrow we we go out for our every 3-Day Update.

I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but make sure you buy what you really want FIRST.

I'd rather take a little longer in getting everything right from the beginning instead of settling for something that I just replace within a year.

BTW, nice room. Can't wait to see what you do next.

you may want to have them change the stairway half wall to a full wall, pretty simply done and it would help with acoustics and solve the problem with the stairway window. Again it is a simple job especially since the room is not fully finished.... should make a great HT room good luck & enjoy

She already knows that it will be Front Projection since my61" DLP will be our Living room tv, and my 42" lcd will be moved into the master.

But she doesnt know that i plan on buying a new receiver too since i will move my current AVR to the new living room setup as well, plus all the cables and adding to more speakers to make it 7.1, the possibility of a bigger sub. O and probably a stand alone Oppo Blu-Ray Player

Looks really impressive… Congratulations and all the best for this Friday. Would light control be a challenge since you are going for a front projector?
