There was a Titanic 2. It was awful!

That being said, it’s hard to imagine what they’ll do here with a third entry. Like someone said, I hope they don’t have him pass the torch to some wussy 25 year old.
How can you be a movie fan, and not a fan of Tom Cruise and his films? I want an explanation of your thought patterns!

Well - Tom has been in some good movies and then not so good. I find him sometimes to be miscast and just doesnt always work for me. Its subjective, of course.

They really don't know when to quit. Last movie was the perfect ending but they need to ruin it for the sake of greed.

I agree!

But... what if the story has something refreshing to offer. A totally different take on things.
Then again, it says Tom Cruise + Top Gun so people will be flocking to the theaters, even if the story will be something like The Empire Strikes Back

After reading an article about it i would actually love to see a third film that is a prequel set in the early-70s during the start of the top gun program.
It should be called T0P GUN.

Cruise is NOT a Movie Star. He's been in the business since 1981 - 43 years of quality movies and has his hands in every aspect of the films production. Not to mention the box office success of Top Gun: Maverick. He still gets asses in seats and doesn't have a major box office bomb on his resume.....

Just waiting for Cruise, Kosinski or Bruckheimer to put out a statement: "Well, we always envisaged it as a trilogy..."

^Thats just the landscape now, the industry can’t be picky, they have to go with what works. Espcially when you have so called movie fans sitting out the likes of MI: Dead reckoning. Best blockbuster of the year by far.

The internet amuses. Star Wars is dead after the prequels, 10 years later The Force Awakens makes $2 billion.

James Cameron Titanic will flop. Avatar will flop. Well, surely Avatar 2 will flop. Well, fine... but wait for Avatar 3, that's gonna flop soooo hard.

Top Gun 2 will flop. That was a one-off, Tom Cruise isn't a star.

People love being negative.

At the point the sequel was great and ended well. Don't see any need in a third. Would rather Cruise do a good remake of Iron Eagle instead.

The man was a movie star the moment he slid onto screen in the greatest film ever made....

So may I ask who is your real movie star? He seems to be doing pretty good in his movies to me.

My youth was in the 80s, can remember the craze over Top gun. Cruise was a huge deal and most liked his films. Also He did a good job holding his own then with established actors. I've always been a fan of his films.
