I'm particularly fond of that series, but I haven't watched the first season, as I'm not sure if it will hold up after all these years. I still have not opened those mammoth MASH and China Beach DVD sets, but I think I'm going to start MASH very soon.

That's always the worry, especially when you enjoyed it as a kid.

Found a great deal for seasons 2 & 3 brand new for $26 total, so I nabbed them. I don't like watching them out of order, but I'll pick a random episode to watch and see if it warrants buying the other 2 sets. Season 1 is pricey everywhere at the moment, so I can wait on that one.

A few years ago I watched the entire first and second season of THE PAPER CHASE and thought both held up really well and I was as impressed with them as during their first runs.

One thing about the second season on DVD though: Shout claims they only had access to syndicated and edited prints of the first half of that season, which means they are cut slightly and all the profanity is dropped. Remember that season originally aired on Showtime so it had profanity. I'm not sure why Shout had difficulties finding it uncut as they did find the second half of the second season that way, but beware that there are edits in the first half.

It happens to me all the time and I always like to pride myself for keeping up with releases. Then by the time I do find out there was a release it's usually OOP and going for huge bucks or, especially with Shout TV releases, only affordable at eBay via Asian bootlegs.

How often does Vinegar Syndrome's site go on sale, and what do those sales typically look like?

I keep missing them because despite submitting my email like 8 times now to sign up for their newsletter I do not get any communication from them at all (and no, there is nothing in the spam folder) so I'd like to know when I should keep an eye out

Who do you use for email? I get mail from them all the time. Have you tried a gmail address? Their 2 sales where most of the site is on sale are Black Friday weekend in Nov and Memorial day weekend in May. They also have week long sales first week of Jan and first week of July, but there are only a dozen or so titles on sale per day that they choose during those subscriber weeks. Last Sep they also had a warehouse clearance sale, again, with only select titles on sale each day of their choosing.

Thanks for the head's up though, sounds like May/Nov are the main times I should be on high alert which I guess is obvious in retrospect lol just wasn't sure if they tended to do off-season sales like how Criterion has their 50% off flash sales

Most people splurge on VinSyn most at Black Friday and Halfway to Black Friday, but really some of their best sales (lowest prices) have been happening at pretty regular intervals last year (the 10 for $10 anniversary sale). The one just held this month was also pretty baller for prices (if you didn't have the offerings yet)

I'm on the Arrow UK site and see no mention of this sale.

EDIT TO ADD: I found it and excellent deals, but just a handful of titles. Do they ever add any over the course of the sale?

I only wished I had read further into the thread to discover that the The Paper Chase was available but not listed in the sale. $17 with no tax and no change to shipping cost, it would still be significantly better than purchasing from anyone importing to the US. Instead, I ended up completely missing it. Oh well, I guess I'll just pay the ~$6 more and get it through Amazon Global Store UK.
