Which would be a little ironic if this time Marty was to be on the other end of such a scenario.
There was no "injustice". Dances With Wolves is a fine film and well deserving of its accolades, and I say that as someone who considers Goodfellas to be one of my favourite films.

Just finished watching this and it didn't really work for me. Lily Gladstone really is great in it though.

watched this last night and like others have said, it was good but just nothing outstanding really. Good work by Scorsesse and the cast but you expect that from Leo and DeNiro at this point. Agree with whoever said DeNiro's work was so understatedly good that its flying under the radar.

Also agree with porkchop about Lily. She was fine, does what is asked of her and nothing more really. She wasn't bad by any means but I am really (kinda) baffled by all the praise.

I thought Spider-Man: No Way Home validated Scorsese’s description of MCU movies being ‘theme park rides’. All the over-the-top reaction videos of people clapping, shouting, jumping up and cheering at every reference and returning character. Just the fact that so many people were openly filming these reactions in the theatre and it’s the kind of experience/fan engagement that Marvel intended.

This started off interesting but the denouement was blah. Guess directors should retire in their prime then put out works not worthy of their calibir. Recall Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino, and to a lesser extent The Departed? Masterpieces of cinema. Such a bad film to go out on. No surprises, all overly foreshadowed. Fact it came out on Apple TV+, while still in theaters or produced by Apple tells you there was no bidding war for this screenplay. Tarantino has said he may not make a 10th & final film because director’s last films tend to be their worst. He should’ve not made vast majority post KB2. Hateful 8 was just Reservoir Dogs theme reworked a bit, DJango showed Tarantino’s cringe worthy acting. Basterds was ok, Death Proof was so bad I’m unsure which was Tarantino’s worst film: Django, H8ful 8, Basterds, Death Proof. All these were bad for any director but post KB2 Tarantino it’s atrocious. Best part of his filmography is nonlinear. True Romance is the exception to the nonlinear rule. 90s Tarantino wouldn’t know this old shitty film making director. At least they can’t ruin his good movies & once KB films out in 4K DV, I’m outta the Tarantino game. I stayed too long at the party. Death Proof marked the beginning of the end. Money speaks & adjusted for inflation, I’d guess I’m correct.

His worst is definitely the Hateful Eight. A total and utter failure to me. The movie simply doesn't work.

I actually quite like Bastards and I like the first 2 acts of Once Upon A time in Hollywood. Django I agree is a total waste of time.

Tarantino drones on and on about directors' last movie not being mediocre. Well he already has several mediocre films in his filmography. He'd have to go much further than 10 movies to deliver 10 good movies.

All very true. But Dances With Wolves didn't deserve those accolades at Goodfellas ' expense, wherein lies the injustice and the point of my post.

To me, the real snub of the 1991 Academy Awards was The Grifters, which didn't even get a Best Picture nomination.

I don't think anybody even remembers The Grifters.

And I'm saying that as a pretty big Stephen Frears fan.

Goodfellas is one of the greatest movies of all time and Dances with wolves is not… definitely the wrong movie won best picture that year

Based on your subjective opinion.

None of the categories that Dances With Wolves won that year, was it undeserving. Had Goodfellas won those categories instead, it would have also been deserving.
