Honestly hope it’s as surprisingly good as The New Mutants was (to me, okay?).

The connection can be just as vague as that film was to the X-Men series for all I care. Just give me a decent movie.

Honestly, the characters in the comics weren't extremely connected to Spidey anyway like Julia and Anya.

The only one was Mattie Franklin in Gathering Of Five, which was a story arc only really made to bring back Aunt May.

It’s like people stopped being able to read the room. Same has been happening to David Letterman.

Madame Web Reshoots Reportedly Removed Major Spider-Man Connections

Insider Jeff Sneider reports that Sony's upcoming Marvel movie Madame Web removed connections to two previous Spider-Man iterations during reshoots.

Madame Web reportedly could have featured an appearance from Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man before Sony elected to remove all connections to the fan-favorite web-slinger.

According to insider Jeff Sneider on The Hot Mic (via X), Sony initially wanted Garfield to be the main Spider-Man in its Spider-Man Universe, beginning with Madame Web. However, those plans were later scrapped and Tom Holland's Spider-Man was chosen as the movie's Wall-Crawler. Sneider continued that all mentions of either Spider-Man were then removed during reshoots after Sony realized that the timelines didn't add up for either version to appear. Madame Web was apparently going to be set in the 1990s/early 2000s until reshoots removed any reference to the movie taking place in a particular year.
I wish Tom Holland's Spider-man would have shown up. The questions from the fans would have been awesome.

This is like Multiverse of Madness leaks all over again where people just hear what they want to hear.
Because Sony sucks so badly at navigating all this live-action multi-verse stuff that it's easy to believe what he's saying in this particular instance (that Sony couldn't figure out the timeline, which Spidey should be involved given the incorrect timelines, etc.).

So it's just petty studio hate being the reason people believe it, never mind the fact that MCU is just as incompetent with the multiverse (616 anyone?).

Yeah, I stand by my previous statements where this is just people hearing what they want to hear.

Haha, nah, man...not petty at all. While the MCU has clearly had some missteps, Sony is absolutely dreadful at world-building out the live-action Spider-Man universe with threads never being sewn up, weird cameos that don't lead to anything, revealing shots in trailers not showing up in the final cut and movies ending on cliffhangers that are never followed up on. Whether or not the Schneider information is ever proven, who knows, but again, Sony's track record isn't on their side when it comes to believing these types of BTS reports.

Stand away, it's all good, that's your opinion and you're entitled to that as much as I am entitled to mine.

Anywho...somewhat back on topic with Madame Web, here's Sydney Sweeney in today's "Hot Ones" episode:

SYDNEY Sweeney. And I really wish we weren't wasting her and Emma Roberts on this. But I guess if Aaron Taylor Johnson can be cast in both universes...

I'm sorry, but I just cannot see her as Black Cat.

She's a great actress but doesn't have the spunk/attitude to be Felicia Hardy. People just cast her for big tits and that's it.

I would add the counterargument that neither actress we've seen as MJ has had the body or the personality to fit the role.

I'm impressed that Sony really believes in making random projects out of the Spidey property. Morbius, Madame Web, and Kraven? Nobody really asked for that. And apparently, Sony thought it was worth dropping money for. I can see why Venom would be worth making something for. But those others? Not so much.

Sony left to their own devices w/ Spidey? It's been real iffy. I'm still amazed that the Spiderverse films are as good as they are, glad they left those guys to do their own thing. Cuz Sony would Sony the Sony out of that Sony.

Is it your money they're spending? Also, exactly how do I go about asking Sony for a specific movie?

Agreed. Dunst was too much of Gwen Stacy with MJ's backstory stapled onto her and Zendaya was literally just Patience Phillips from that awful Catwoman all over again.

We are in desperate need of a proper Mary Jane Watson in film.

It's more along the lines where is the demand for these things?

WB: Sits out 2024 (save for Joker 2) to lick their wounds and reassess.

DISNEY: Sits out 2024 (save for Deadpool 3, which is an inherited Fox property) to lick their wounds and reassess.

SONY: Releases THREE Spider-Man spinoffs following a year where the superhero genre hit a brick wall at 90 mph.

Sony always impresses. Win or fail. It's always impressive.

I'm a Spider-Man fan and have been pretty much all my life. I think Madame Web is going to be a lot of fun. Not every CBM has to be about A-list characters facing a world-ending threat.
