What does everyone think of the trades and free agency policies? I was trying to make it as even as possible and ensure that there was no chance of foul play in this regard.

The other option for free agency I had came up with was to do a waiver system in which the worst team in the league got first pick of the free agents, etc.. But, I didn't see any other way to do the trade system.

I'm open to other suggestions if anyone has any.

I have a feeling though that All-Pro should work out, because it seems as though they've added some nice AI updates, especially to the defensive secondary which will be nice.
We use the equivalent to all pro in the ncaa league on here and it seems to be good.

Very interested in this...have to determine if I'm getting the game first...

Also before you spend a lot of time with rules on trades/free agency....might want to wait for the game and see what kind of "filters/sliders" that they have for controlling those actions.

I think the cap on trades per year is fair but not sure about being within 1 or 2 points. What if I want to get rid of anquan and say he is a 92 overall and I need a corner or something. If I am willing to get rid of him for a high 80's player I should be able to do that. I don't think it's right that we can't sign our players to extensions. That's a big part of a franchise is making your contract, trade, and draft decisions. You should make it so that a team over the salary cap can't add big name free agents. We don't need the yankees in football. Lol

Like I just said I think before putting to much time into the rules for Trades/FA should wait until the game comes out and see what they provide......That being said I'd be open for making like a "real GM" experience...meaning you have to manage your teams contract signings under a salary cap and other then staying under the cap do what you wish......Now that being said the problem comes in trades....you'll have the team who quits half way through and doesn't care about trading their best players for scrubs....thats what needs to be monitored.

Both good points.

When dealing with the trades, I think we need to have something in place to ensure that nothing out of the ordinary happens. You're probably right about the rating system being a little too tight and maybe I need to widen it a little bit. What if we did a rating system based on position. So, lets say you have a top 10 wide receiver and you need a corner, perhaps we make it so you can't trade for anyone outside of the top 15 in corners? Maybe give like a 5 player buffer? Something like that could work. We could just create a spreadsheet and post it on the first post and make available to everyone through Google Docs or something.

As for the free agency and signing players, I think you're right. We should probably take that out, but we need to come up with an exact rule. I'm going to wait until I get the game and see what I can do as far as setting up the league because maybe I can set the Salary Cap a bit higher or something so that we have some additional room to play with.

You should leave the cap where it's at to keep it realistic. Maybe we could make it so trades have to be approved by the commish so no oddball crap goes down.

Good point. Does anyone have a list of what the current cap situations look like for each team?

I'm also contemplating what to do about players like Vick, Plax, and Stallworth who are suspended, but will be free agents in the game.

That goes for other players who are suspended as well, should they be allowed to play during their current suspensions?

For instance, if the Star Caps hearing holds up and the Williams Wall is suspended, should the individual controlling the Vikings have to bench them for 4 games?

Don't have a list, but it will already be there on the game. That's a tough one on the suspended players. If they can't play for real they shouldn't be able to in our franchise.

I've never enjoyed playing Madden online for some of the reasons others here have mentioned. My friends and I are huge football plans and play weekly. We actually come up with game plans and think about and write down what plays we want to use. We try to mix it up as much as possible and really rag on anyone using the cheap deep passes over and over again. Unless of course, they are getting their arses handed to them.

I remember Joe Montana football and the easy onside kick that resulted in you getting the ball back over and over again.

Well, I guess we'll have to wait to see how everything plays out. If Vick signs with a team before hand, we won't have to worry about him, but we'll just have to make sure he isn't utilized until after week 6. We should also hear about Stallworth soon since he just met with the commish. Plax is probably done dealing though.

Or how about Madden on Sega? Toss left or right to Barry Sanders was a touchdown every time.

Why don't you and your friends give the league a shot? As long as they're on br.com that is. Sounds like you guys would be perfect players for such a league.

I know that myself and one of my friends would be down for that. We have a lot of time on our hands it would seem.
