Then you should be happy that the new show is a reboot instead of a continuation. The only way to make the show about a single Slayer is to start over.

Buffy died at least once, which is how Faith entered the picture. I don't remember how Kennedy's entrance was explained.

Kennedy was just a potentional Slayer, nothing needed to be explained.

Or did you mean Kendra? Kendra came before Faith. Kendra's death is what caused Faith to be activated.

OK, I probably confused the two. Its been at least 20 years since I watched an episode of Buffy, and I largely left it behind after Season 3.
