If this is successful I wonder if they'll revisit The Sacrifice.
I have both and The Sacrifice is very clean and Nostalghia needed it more it has a rougher look to it between the 2 Blu-Rays from Kino.

I was thinking this was The Sacrifice until you brought it up. The Sacrifice is the best looking Blu-Ray from Tarkovsky. This will be the new number 1 and The Sacrifice Blu Ray will become number 2.

I just want Solaris in 4K with Dolby Vision. That would be cool. Then The Sacrifice with Dolby Vision that would make me happy too. But I'm over getting expectations high.

Trust me, I want every Tarkovsky in 4K. The Sacrifice does already have a great blu-ray and Nostalghia was more in need of an upgrade but I hope that both Kino Lorber gives a thought to The Sacrifice if this proves to be a good seller.

I think Criterion's release of Mirror is a stunner. That currently holds the top spot on my list.

You're probably right The Mirror is my favorite as far as his up close camerawork. I don't have it on 4k or 2k haha Criterion rubs me the wrong way with 4K.....................You are right The Mirror 4K, this Nostalghia 4K, then The Sacrfice Blu-Ray. Solaris looks the worst and imho it's my favorite. I'm a bitter fan

The Sacrifice does actually have a new 4K restoration (newer than the one on the 2018 Kino disc). It might actually same base scan, but the restoration was done by the Swedish Film Institute instead of Eclair. I wouldn't expect a huge detail detail increase, but they have finally gotten the colour grading right.

That color grading is my only problem with the disc. It's so overpowering. And yes, the clips included in Andrei Tarkovsky: A Cinema Prayer don't have that grade.

The new restoration gets its premiere this month at the Berlinale, which is so, so exciting. There are a few caps on their website and they show the proper grading. I hope SFI licenses it out to labels willing to give the film its deserved UHD. I can imagine a label like BFI asking about the restoration due to their relationship with the SFI from their Bergman sets
