All things considered, I'm relatively happy with my Sonos Beam (Gen 2) for my bedroom set-up with an LG C8, Pana 820 and Apple TV 4K, on sale for $400 and change.

The price point, ease-of-setup and related aesthetics/foot print is less than a 2.0 setup. With Sonos, product and sound quality, reliability, support and updates is top tier, plus the product is expandable (back/sides/sub) and the free smartphone app is all you need to manage settings and product. The sound quality is far superior than TV speakers, dialogue is clear as a center channel, Atmos provides a baseline facsimile, and the room correction works as promised.

If I did not have a UHD player, the dynamics are different, i.e., an exclusive Apple set-up. Dual HomePod plus Apple AirPods Pro, which I use often and are fantastic for solo/late-night viewing. The APP noise-cancelation feature alone is a must-have for when you do not wish to hear anything but the film.

But the Beam is what it is, a sound bar. Don't get me wrong, the sound quality is solid and representative of the mix, but my main set-up is my go to when I want to experience sound at maximum volume.
