Default A2-300 problem, it won't turn on

Well I don't know much about subs, but going off of what I've heard here on the forums, I think my amp died on my A2-300. I've only had it for about 3 months. Last night I watched American Psycho and this morning I turned my stuff on to listen to some music and the sub didn't turn on. I checked the back and the red light was off. I tried unplugging it, turning it off and on, plugged it into a few different outlets, nothing.

I'll probably need to call ED tomorrow, but I just wanted to see what you guys thought the cause might be.

Check out the fuse, tomorrow is Saturday so it is usually unlikely that we'll be around but it is worth a shot. Start with the fuse and we'll go from there on Monday if you don't catch one of us here tomorrow.

Lol forgot it was Friday. I don't know much about the inner workings of subs. I was gonna unscrew the back, where are the fuses in there?

It's under the power cord. Just unplug the power cord and the holder is right there on the LT.200

Ok I took a pic, I think it's blown, but hell I don't know a whole lot about fuses either lol. The only blown fuses I've seen were black or discolored. So is it blown? If so, is it a pretty common fuse I can grab at a hardware store?

Blown Fuse. Notice the metal filament doesn't make a connection from one side to the other side.

5mm x 20 mm Slow Blow Fuse. Amperage and voltage listed on the amplifier under holder.

Home depot wont have them. Do you have a radio shack near by?
This is the fuse you need...http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...ductId=2102762 I have yet to see when a fuse is blown that a new one fixes the problem You are the first one that I have heard that the fuse has blown with three months of use. They usually do it from the start or within hours of first setting up the A2-300. More then likely you will need an amp.

Hey T-Biz,

Any ideas on what may have caused it to blow in the first place?

Well you might be right erict. I just picked up the fuses that you recommended and I went through 2 in like 5 mintues. I replaced the new fuse, plugged the sub in and turned it on. The red light came back on so I was like sweet! Then I turned on my PS3 and started playing music and didn't hear the sub kick on, looked at the back of the sub and the red light was off again. Blast!

Replaced the fuse again, plugged in the cord and turned it on. Watched it for 5 seconds and it turned off. Blew them in just seconds. This mean that I need a new amp?

Btw, with the new fuses, the fillament in them is extremely thin, like hair thin. The one that came in the sub was a lot thicker, you sure these are the right type? I'm totally new to this so I'm not asking from experience, just kinda curious as to why they look so different

Naw man, I'm stumped. I'm not too knowledgeable on this stuff anyways, but I haven't been crankin the hell out of it, it's never been dropped, it's plugged into a nice surge protector. etc. Oh well, hopefully it's something simple. Just kind of a pain in the ass ya know? Lol I've bought a bunch of misc. things in the last 6 months that have all had problems, didn't work, needed parts replaced, got the wrong one, etc. I thought I was done with the bad luck streak haha

Oh well, after hearing about how great ED is with customer service and all, I'm not too worried.

Yes, those are the correct ones. If you look under the cover it list the same specs as the one you have from radio shack. I have also e-mailed Brett to confirm the correct fuse and he is the one that gave me the radio shack part number Call eD on Monday, you will need a new amp

I sure hope they figure out what is going on with this LT.200 amp because now with you're report of a problem 3 months down the road I'm concerned that with only a 1 year warranty many will be stuck buying amps after the warranty ends

One thing is, they never had an issue like this with the LT.250 amp nor do they have it with the LT.300 amp. eD said it's the new style (flush mount) amp and even though it's 200w rms v 250w rms it has the same output.

And I've seen more and more problems with the fuses going on the LT/200 too. Who knows??

That's for sure and concerns me. In fact this is the only amp I know and read about that is having the fuse issue at all. I believe something isn't right internally with this new style LT.200 amp Do you have the newer style?

I got the batch from eD this spring that has the new e3.12 driver with the old LT/250 amp. In my room I run the gain around 10 o'clock with a trim on my Onkyo at -10db. It's quite an efficient combo, but it isn't hard for me to get the sub to bottom out or clip either.

Yes, I got mine in May with the new driver but also the new style amp. I haven't had any issues YET. I have my gain set at 11 o'clock and my receivers db set at -2db. I'm crossing my fingers.
