I would highly recommend using a laser lens cleaner if you start experiencing issues like that. I would use it every few months, even if you ensure your discs are clean before inserting them. I had weird out of the blue playback issues with my Panasonic 4k player once and the lens cleaner took care of it. I also recommend completely disconnecting the power cable for a minute and repowering from scratch as that causes a full reboot and can help clear up weird sudden playback issues as well.

The laser lens cleaner won't damage anything. I saw somewhere that they can damage things internally.
