Well it was almost a given that they were going to take Best Buy's place for steelbook exclusives. Nice to see that they ARE going to be doing 4K steelbooks and not just blu-ray ones.

I doubt Shout Factory is going to fix it (at least not this quickly since the initial release). It's probably going to include the same disc that was in their original release in September 2022. I'd love to be wrong.

So what's so bad about the Shout Factory release? Don't they usually have good quality transfers?

Not Shout's fault. Oliver Stone supervised it and applied too much DNR.

Thank you. Shout has deserved criticism on some releases but this is not one of them. 100% not their fault.

Mine came in today. No digital is a bummer imo, but it arrived in perfect condition. FWIW, it shipped in a cardboard mailer.

Yet the 4K remasters he supervised since (Natural Born Killers & JFK) are magnificent, so was it Stone or someone at MGM that screwed the pooch on Platoon?

Hopefully someone will get another crack at it in the future.
