My new practice will be not to buy anymore discs per month than I watch from my collection. For instance, if I watch 4 movies from my collection I can buy up to 4 new ones, but no more! Let's see how long I can stick with this, but I kind of like the idea and it gets me to dive into my collection more which can only be a good thing rather than just continually adding to it!

I nearly always tend to be on the same page with both you guys. I have 5 out of the 6 that Drush picked up!

I watch 40 movies on average a month so I would go broke using your system

No. It says Out of Stock on their site.

I checked Grand Illusion, which I know is Out of Print, and it's marked as such.

The system is not that it’s MANDATORY to equal the buys to the watches! Just use it as a guide and work within the idea.

But for your score of watching 40 movies from your collection per month:

It's been a while since I've indulged in a sale:

The Apu Trilogy 4K
Taste of Cherry Blu
The Roaring Twenties 4K
The Last Picture Show 4K
The Flavor of Green Tea over Rice Blu

I earned a $50 gift certificate with this purchase and was ready to go back for 3 more UHDs but:

p.s. Those are two great Eclipse choices, especially the Lubitsch!
I feel like some of those Lubitsch movies won't see a Blu Ray, but I'm still hoping, be it through Criterion, Kino or someone else.

*fumes towards the Warner Archive thread and the lack of The Student Prince of Old Heidelberg*

One advantage of using a reshipper is it encourages me to pass the FS threshold; while doing yesterday's order I got within 46 points of a gift certificate but relented, tempting though it was. Have to watch the Ł135 limit for the UK.

Anyone else experienced not getting order confirmations from Criterion?

I placed an order yesterday but i never got the order confirmation or the email with the $50 giftcard i earned. Placed another order a couple of hours ago and nothing for that either. I'm getting the Flash sale promo emails and such but not the confirmations.
I've contacted CS and they gave me the giftcard code but is still struggling with the fact that i'm not getting the confirmations.

It looks like a great set, but I already have Jeanne Dielman on blu plus the Ackerman Eclipse set, so hard to justify this purchase even though I really like her work. Curious to hear from anyone that has upgraded if they think it's worth the splurge.

I ended up not purchasing anything from the flash sale, although I did get some ideas for the inevitable July Barnes and Noble sale.

Have to finish watching the movies I got from the last sale, being the main reason.

It was great to have another flash sale and I bought a couple of cool Criterions (https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=121). But with such a great selection of titles, it's tough to refrain from buying any 2K blu-rays mastered in 4K (After all, there could be a Criterion UHD at some point in the future).

I am wondering whether these old British Hitchcocks will ever be mastered in 4K. What speaks against this is that they already have great restorations, and the grainy film stock probably won't look much better in 4K. However, it's Hitchcock, probably the most mainstream and popular of all golden age filmmakers. So I'd still say a 4K restoration is viable. What do you guys think? (I did not purchase the British "The Man Who Knew Too Much" this time around nor any other Hitchcock title for this exact reason.)

Also, I would really love to see a 4K release of "Heaven's Gate". That film looks absolutely gorgeous and will look even better in 4K resolution.

I haven't got mine yet personally, but this guy goes pretty in depth with comparison between versions:

https://battleshippretension.com/hom...-by-scott-nye/

The special features have been rejiggered around as well, so Jeanne Dielman not only has a new (2020) transfer but also higher bitrate overall than the 2017 Blu.
