![]() Are you going to give it a try? Just did a quick glance at their selection and there was a lot of older titles there. Next week I plan to look more closely at their offerings. |

My two days of treatment went very well. The back procedure hurt quite a bit, but it greatly reduced my pain afterwards. The effect only lasts a day or two, but this was only the first round of 3. The third round is where we hope to relieve the pain for about a year. Each round is three weeks apart.
Thanks to everyone for the well wishes! ![]() |

I'm tempted but unless I am reading it wrong it looks like you're rental tier is capped to a certain number of titles per month. I'll have to take a closer look and see. |

Fiber is important. All 11 of my doctors agree.
With my owning 600 4K UHD disc titles, 4,992 blu-rays, and 3,909 DVDs, I can watch damn near everything that I want, no flaky internet needed. I also use some streaming services: Netflix, Max, Amazon Prime, Tubi, the Roku Channel plus I have a fair sized digital collection. I have the best of both worlds. ![]() |

A fine young cannibal from BELL took advantage of the situation and was canvassing the neighborhood offering ridiculous deals for their new FIBE service. I literally had the ROGERS rep on the phone with me as the BELL kid was making his pitch. I would have stayed with them if they could have just matched the offer price wise. I wasn't really interested in anything faster than the gigabit service as I didn't think I had anything that could take advantage of the higher speed... Long story short, the BELL FIBE in my neighborhood kills the old ROGERS cable service. It NEVER fluctuates day or night... my son's super computer gets a constant 3GB signal and every thing else in my house 1GB without fail no matter the test, or time of day. I never gave any thought to my upload speed before. My son works from home 3 days a week and often has to upload large files. He tells me that the new setup is invaluable to his workforce... Anyways, I can see that ROGERS is currently working at upgrading my neighborhood to fiber as well so that renegotiating with BELL should be easier next round..LOL.. |

My smarts or lack of is not the issue. The fact is, has been and likely to remain the A/V streaming from most of providers is relative low bit rate compared to disc. END OF STORY!!!! A little of my background is just one click away on any post I make here and AVS, been that way for almost 19 years. Below is a surround encoder that I designed and constructed in the 80's. Look at the differential inputs and tell the good folks here how the values I used are not optimum. [Show spoiler]

You do not need symmetrical internet for streaming and having it will give you no advantage over those that do not. Not one streaming service provider lists an upload speed requirement in order to use their service. Not a single damn one. They only list download speed requirements because upload speed is a non-factor. Netflix's speed requirements are stated here: https://help.netflix.com/en/node/306 Do you see any listed upload speed requirement? No, you do not because upload speeds are irrelevant for receiving streamed content. Speed requirements for other services can be found here: https://www.highspeedinternet.com/re...st%2025%20Mbps. No mention of upload speed requirements for any of them. End of story. If you had bothered to read the article that you linked to you would have noticed that there was no mention made of streaming movies. The need for improved upload speed was attributed to: "The pandemic underscored this, as people moved to remote socializing, remote learning, remote work, telehealth, and many other services that require high upload speeds and capacity." Receiving streamed movies has never required "high upload speeds." If it did, each streaming provider would state such a requirement as they do with download speeds. Again, NO streaming service states any upload speed requirement for any level of streaming quality. You either don't read what you link to or you can't understand what you do read. Lazy at best and beyond sad at worst. Last edited by Vilya; 03-03-2024 at 04:55 AM. |

Again, NO streaming service provider lists an upload speed requirement for any level of streaming quality. Why do you think that is? You constantly claim expertise in all things internet, so how come no upload requirements are stated by anyone? The answer is obvious to everyone but you: there is no upload requirement because upload speeds are beyond negligible to receive a video stream. Lastly, no one needs a link to your search results page; it does not prove anything that you have said. |
