I'm sorry but I still don't think we should be charged for the priviledge of playing this game early. If it is $40, we are paying that much for less than half the finished product? Unless Sony discounts owners of Prologue for the purchase of the final game this is nothing but a glorified microtransaction. Most 360 owners have experienced this nonsense. Horse armor anyone? Sony should just release it as a public beta. I know mentions of Halo 3 usually get flamed but they let people play 3 levels with full weapons and vehicles for free. I think Sony can do the same.

Excuse me but this is not whining. I offered information to gather public opinion. They will get paid when they release the full version.

Considering that this 'demo' is bigger than most games, I think it is fair.

I didn't even think that the US were getting this, they don't normally get the prologue versions.

Gran Turismo 4 Prologue was sold at a reduced price in the UK, that is why I'd hold off on getting upset about this news as I wouldn't put it past any site to post news like this to build up a bit of controversy.

exactly. prolouge was not cheap to make, it cost as much as many games. if you want to play the "full" version of gt5 with all the dl content that will be availiable look to spend well over a hundred dollars. you pay what you get for. gt5 will be an amazing game, but it will come at a steep price.

If you don't like it - don't buy it. Wait for the full game.

It's quite likely some of the content in GT5 Prologue will be unique to Prologue though.

I'll wait until the official announcement.

With 40 cars and 10 tracks it should cost something.

Maybe they can give you a free demo with 1 car and half a track in a loop.

I don't really see how you can make a comparison between a limited-time use, buggy beta and a large sample-portion of a game that you get to keep and play for as long as you like.

Since some people are getting heated about this topic I added a poll to see how much people are willing to pay.

I'd expect it to be around $30/£20 on Blu-ray.

Yup. It was £20 for GT4:Prologue I seem to remember.

But that didn't matter as the direct competitor was PGR2 which was worse than the prologue version, and more expensive to boot. It was only until MS got Forza out that they had a hint of catching GT.

I selected $30.

If Nintendo is charging $10 for a 20-year-old game (with no improvements) on the Wii console, then this is worth $30.

Being a car fan, I bought a PS3 specifically to play GT5P this Christmas, without it I would have held out on buying a PS3 until the full game was released.

Why would anyone expect a game that has been in developement for about 2 or 3 years to be free. It probably will be priced at 59.99 as a regular game. It will be worth it! And I am guessing GT5 will be the same also

Then don't buy the Prologue.. Simple as that. They already released GT HD free.

Wink Do your research...

First of all this is NOT the first Gran Tourismo with the Prologue pre-fix. GT Prologue has existed since GT3 and 4, prologue and has only been released internationally in the past without a US version except the full releases (GT3,4). The same is going to happen for the PS3 GT5 as happened with the past ps2 releases. This title was never intended to be free as NO other versions were free to begin with. It is expected to be distributed like Warhawk (over the psn and blu-ray disc versions). Why do you want a watered down version anyway? I want the game just as bad as you (I love GT-HD).

I'm not even a racing game fan, but this game is a system seller to me. It looks so beautiful, I just have to own it.

I don't mind micro-transactions. What I do mind is a game in today's market that comes out and has no extra content at all. There's no excuse for it. (hint hint more maps, Warhawk.)

Kids tend to mind the most and that's fine (expected). As to the 360 horse armor, it was just a bonus. You didn't need it to play the game. I played Oblivion on the 360 and never bought any of the mico-stuff.

Oh, and if you hate micro-transactions, you will HATE HATE HATE the upcoming HOME from Sony. It will end up being full of premium additions. And I couldn't be happier.
