If you can afford to confront Cameron via submarine then by all means do so. No matter how much we complain whether it be on social media or by the old fashioned way of writing letters these out of touch filmmakers will do as they please without a thought for the people that care.

George Lucas would have added a megalodon shark to the Abyss, it would have chased Ed Harris around and there would have been some pirates trying to snipe the divers with spear guns, and then Warwick Davis would say now this is pod diving then Michael Biehn would have an extra scene where Vasquez comes down in a mini sub to sign up and asks him to get her out of this chicken **** wetsuit.

Both you and I know that if these 3 releases did poorly, Disney will not view the failure as a result of the AI transfer but because of the format dying. It's a Catch-22.

For those that saw it on the big screen back in December know the truth. It was fine. certainly better than aliens and true lies. Its not all bad that some are saying.. we need to stop with the misinformation.

the abyss has been selling like hot cakes. new titles would come and take the number 1 spot but than the abyss would come back at number 1. It's a huge seller.

I remember seeing the film back in 1989. the sound mix was very loud.. this Atmos mix even enhances the already great sound mix. most films from that time are more moderate compared to enhancing it.

I, like many others here, am beyond excited The Abyss is finally coming to 4K, physical disc that is.

I saw The Abyss back in 1989 with some friends in the theater, I remember that night like it was yesterday, my eyes never leaving the screen. When the expanded edition was announced for laser disc, I remember the shop owner telling me when I got there his shipment was out for delivery but only was getting one copy for rental so I hung around for four hours so I could be the first person to rent it. It was even more enjoyable than the theatrical cut. Flash forward several years later I got the opportunity to meet Cameron as he was in town. He and I chatted for about five minutes, very friendly as I asked him about The Abyss making it's way to Blu-ray. He said he was getting ready to oversee the transfer and that fans who enjoyed the Alien box set would love what he had planned for The Abyss. That was August 2010. Nearly 14 years later, the wait is nearly over.

If you watch the theatrical you will basically be asking yourself some questions. I personally feel the extended edition is the way to go and brings things into perspective better. Enjoy it, you will have a great time.

I’d call him far worse but it would just be a bunch of *s. Besides, I already got one language-related ban and I don’t feel like getting a second one.

Well, at least they're not pretending to know.
Jimmy C likes to put specific 2.0 mixes on there, not OG but remixes designed for 2.0 so that folks with po' boy setups don't get left out. It doesn't say this on the UHDs but here's the blurb from the original Avatar CE Blu-ray:

I have never seen this movie before so I downloaded the theatrical and the longer 4k digital version. I was so bored w the theatrical I turned it off after 20 minutes. Cameron took out 31 minutes of the finished movie because he wanted it to make more money from added screenings. Take out 31 minutes of any movie you like and that is what the theatrical is - a waste of time and unwatchable.
