I know these aren’t great releases but that YTer is always going off on releases about some issue or another on some popular release. He’s a broken record. Part of me thinks he’s trying to convince himself his laserdiscs are still superior releases for his collection. Then his videos are repeating the same points over and over ad nauseam. He takes a topic that could be covered in 10 minutes and turns it into a 90 minute diatribe.

I watched the UHD and I found it was not too terrible (lol what a low bar) even if the changes are glaring.

Then I had a look at the Open Matte Special Edition 1080p, and I wanted to cry...

Anyway MP me for the Digital Code, first come first served.
Edit: Congrats to georgea who messaged first.

Perhaps we should boycott the remaining Avatar movies because those films are far from his best work. I mean it was 12 years between Titanic and A1 and 13 more years for A2. I mean those were the best he could come up with? Seriously he peaked at T2.

Amazon is all messed up. I am a Prime member and pre-ordered on February 2. Last Thursday, I got a notice saying I wouldn't be getting the movie until sometime between April 17 and May 17. Then I read on this thread that people who ordered on Amazon well after Februrary 2 received shipping notices that the film was shipped and would be delivered within a few days. I went on to the Walmart site on Thursday, after getting that Amazon notice and ordered it there. Walmart sent me a notice less that 24 hours later that my disc had shipped and that I will receive it this coming Tuesday. Once I get it, I am so cancelling the Amazon order.

You’re acting like James Cameron is the only director with diminishing returns. I don’t even remember what Spielberg’s last film was. What about Zemeckis? Francis Ford Coppola’s filmography is getting weirder and sparser. At least the first Avatar was somewhat enjoyable.

How were you able to order on Walmart's site? Every time I check that site, I just see "Out of stock." There is no option to place an order at all.

This is absolutely insane. The second Barnes & Noble emailed to say it's in stock, somebody already bought the mother****er. Both stores got 1 copy each. Guess I'm not getting this thing any time soon. Reminds me of 2008 when the PS3 came out, stores didn't have it and there were scalpers and bidding wars all over eBay.

Who is distributing this title? Did they produce 100 copies then decide screw it we're not making any more?

Since he gives extremely high praise to high quality BDs and UHDs, calling them the best the film has ever looked, there's no basis at all for your thinking.

Three out the top 4 highest grossing movies ever released after T2. At least say 'in your opinion' or 'I'm a troll' to clarify in the future that you're ignoring the critical and commercial success of his post-T2 catalog.

Sorry but he’s annoying AF. He thinks he's a film expert just because he worked as a projectionist at one point. He’s just another pompous self appointed expert.

Chill… Disney underestimated demand and don’t forget many disc replicators shut their doors buying into Wall Street hype that streaming would quickly kill the disc business. More copies will be coming soon. Same thing happened with Oppenheimer in December.

So you backed off your claim that he's only trying to say laserdisc is better, since it's not supported by the facts.

Not necessarily. He seems enthralled with it. I had laserdisc back in the 90s. They were far from perfect and quality was highly dependent on getting one of the higher end models.

I’m not a fan of his. As I said he’s just another self-appointed expert.

Why is this such a popular view? I sincerely don't get it. You're giving him and others carte blanche to change things and are enabling him. Why do you not see it as some sort of "graffiti" or anachonistic changing of art that doesn't need to be meddled with?

Would you folks be just as happy if the Mona Lisa was defaced and "modernized" with AI?

There's a lot of that going around, especially with people talking about their home theater setups...

The point is: there's nothing to "change"

This was a film released 35 years ago. This is a piece of art. It should be preserved as it was originally presented. There's absolutely no valid reason to meddle with it or change anything. That's disfacement of the original work. Especially when extremely high quality versions of the OCN exist and are well-preserved.

Film isn't like color-by-numbers. Change this, change that whenever it suits the fancy of arrogant and entitled directors. The "changing" is very offensive.

Once in the can, the art work is completed. People other than the director worked on these films. "Changing" them merely for the sake of change disrespects many, many people who worked on the original projects.

Who are you referring to? I just list my equipment setup in my signature so there’s a reference to my Blu-ray and 4K experience. I try to keep equipment discussion in the appropriate areas.

I already pointed out that he's called BDs and UHDs the best a film has ever looked, praising them greatly, so your claim has no basis.
