Agreed. Just... wow, on this whole "dark rising" objection. And I too immediately thought of that same Susan Cooper book!

It's not like it's "cold rising" which is scientifically contradicted by what heat and cold do within an atmospheric environment. Heck, it's not even trying to be literal, like saying "the darkness rose all around the city during the blackout"; which would be an ugly bit of wording. In this case, "dark" and "darkness" are obviously metaphors for evil. So darkness can rise, fall, have a ham sandwich if it wants. Yeesh.

Well, to be fair. Most of SW is crap. Even when it was under Lucas it's quality has been all over the place. Think of all the games, cartoons, comics, and books. How much of it really really is good? That can be said for most franchises.

It's an amazing world to play in for sure. It just has a lot of things to do in. Disney's owndership is just the most prominent cuz it's a much more active franchise more so than previously. It is producing the most visual media though. So it does things differently than Lucas. The problems with creating so much under one banner is that quality will waver all over.

I remember even back when I was a kid in the 80’s thinking Star Wars is awesome, but the effects are so janky, it’d be great to see them updated with modern more realistic effects. That’s literally the big benefit of Star Wars in this era.

I blame Lucas for allowing the princess to grab a blaster and show the boys how its used. The whole franchise went down from there.

It’s way too hard to tell what we’re gonna get by the trailer. This Leslie lady doesn’t have a very strong resume and her interviews are, well, strange. But, everyone deserves a chance, right? We won’t know until we know. I don’t think it will take many episodes to get a feel for it though. So, watch a few and see what ya think. I’ve set the bar quite low though, no question.

I reckon by the end of EP2 or maybe EP3 at the latest most of us will know if it’s worth our time our just laughably bad.

My D+ subscription is hanging by a thread. The quality of this show will definitely influence if I keep it.

I know I am just one of 150 million or so and Disney doesn't care what I do, but that's the update from my household.

Mine has been for a while but Ill stick it out. I added the ad-free Hulu bundle to watch Shogun so Im back in for at least a month, LOL.

The bar for Acolyte is very low, no other way to approach it seeing as whos behind it. Hey, maybe we get lucky and its awesome.

Here's the key tho: is it compelling enough to keep people subscribed? Right now, aside from Doctor Who and Macross, there's nothing on the channel I want. As soon as those shows wrap for the season, I am bouncing out of my sub.

Sure I'll probably watch the Wars content someday. Maybe. But beyond throwing 10 bucks at Disney for one month, that's as far as I'm willing to go.

The whole point of a trailer is to sell the project to the viewer. It did none of the heavy lifting. It gave you nothing of the story, of the setting, of the characters, or gave a reason that I should give a shit about the show. Looking at it objectively, it was a pretty terrible trailer.
