That's my IMDB list. The Domo Arigato $$$ tidbit was something shared here a long time ago (and before recent inflation). I have no problem deleting it if it is no longer accurate or causes some sort of problem. One of my secondary goals for that list was to keep a record of who owns unreleased Silver Age 3D titles and what roadblocks are preventing their restoration. These sorts of arrangements change all the time, so I would love to hear more recent news about the film's status.

I'm open to corrections, but to the best of my knowledge, the Library of Congress has a 35mm 3D print of Domo Arigato--not the OCNs. I'll resurrect this post as a partial source.

Sounds like we have some great Silver Age announcements upcoming.

I have a suspicion that it will be. If it is, that will mean that all of Jack Arnold's titles and all of Arch Oboler's titles will be on 3D Blu Ray in the next year or so.

With you all the way for these, and very exited to learn more! Kudos to Mr Tarzi and everyone who helps put together the deals that allow these restorations to get the greenlight.

When I came across that list, I could tell exactly who created it. You keep excellent notes on even the most obscure of these, and have uncovered titles I'm sure even the most well-informed would have been unaware of.

From the Kickstarter campaign:

Quote:
The Compatible 3-D Blu-ray will be region free and it will eventually be offered online through our distributor (TBA) and various retailers.

While our Kickstarter campaign fulfillment is restricted to shipping in the USA only, our international supporters can consider using a Package Forwarding Service to receive your pledge items in your country. We can't recommend any specific service, but this HuffPost article or Vault 50 page will explain the process and offer some brief comparisons.

It is nowhere near the top of my most wanted Silver Age list either but there isn't a vintage 3D movie I wouldn't buy and enjoy, Domo Arigato will be a feast for the eyes and I am very much looking forward to it.

This is supposed to have perhaps the most spectacular deep 3-D ever, and beautiful cinematography of vintage Tokyo; an absolute must-have.

Vintage stereo is just rare and special, even when the movie is notoriously bad.

It's been over 20 years since I've seen this. What I remember is 20 minutes in yelling at the TV "something had better happen" and 70 minutes later still nothing had happened. That said, I'm game to give it another go. I gave The Man Who Wasn't There another chance after hating it 30 years ago and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Another one I enjoyed much more when I got the 3D Blu Ray was Dynasty. I hated that movie when I saw it in anaglyph back in the 80s but got a real kick out of it when the 3DFA restored it. I even liked The Bubble a lit bit more when the 3DFA restored it. So anything is possible.

I had the Rhino 3D VHS tape. Looked for it for a year before I stumbled across it. The 3D looked terrible (as you can imagine). So at the very least, I know Bob and company will make this look terrific and I'm kinda looking forward to seeing it in proper 3D. Besides, now we might get another Burlesque short, so I'm all in.

DOMO ARIGATO has a very unique distinction; it had two separate "World Premiere" engagements. The first "invitational preview" took place in Seattle, WA at the 440 seat Broadway Theatre on June 26, 1973. The second "American Premiere" was held in Los Angeles, CA at the 198 seat Vagabond Theatre on August 31, 1990.

The same version of the film was premiered twice. In fact, it was very likely the same 35mm Space-Vision print that was shown at both theatres!

Only 17 days remain to pre-order our new restoration and be part of the DOMO ARIGATO excitement!

I'm getting all spacey just thinking about it. I'm on a fixed income, yet this release demands support.
