Shout is so annoying. Put all the stuff up at once. I’d like to see if Species 2 is going to have a poster.

It’s interesting how the Robocop (2014) 4K isn’t labeled as a “Collector’s Edition” despite having a slip.
Then again Shout! has never been consistent with that stuff so I shouldn’t be surprised.

Has Shout Factory released a 4k Scream Factory title without a slip thus far? I can't recall any without them off the top of my head.

There's definitely a few of them. The Happy Death Day films, Ouija, and World War Z 4K among others. The upcoming Gretel & Hansel 4K appears to be another.

That certainly raises the question then regarding what criteria they use to determine which films get slips and which do not. Perhaps it's getting a slip to match the others in the franchise since us colletors like uniformity in our franchise releases.

If that is the reason, kudos to you shout.

I'll probably upgrade Matinee to 4K.

Meanwhile, since there's not much talk about it, I'll throw in my take on The First Slam Dunk. I thought it was an unbelievably impressive movie. Definitely a different type of anime experience and awesome for any sports fan. Some of the best character development I've seen as well. I'll be buying that one day one, as I've been impatiently waiting for a release to materialize.

Definitely in for Species II since the previous blu was from an old scan. On the fence concerning RoboCop 2. The blu-ray was pretty good and I don't really feel like spending $50-60 dollars for an upgrade. Love the slip though.

GKIDS annoyingly teased a Collectors Edition coming later on yesterday too. Not sure if that means 4K will be included as well.

I was really hoping Species 2 would have a poster. Lame that they would give the other two collectors editions posters but not that one.

In for Robocop 2 and Matinee. Good month for me, titles I really didn't expect to make the move to 4K.

Matinee is a must see for anyone who loves old classic sci-fi.

It's also a gleefully subversive movie (like most of Joe Dante's films) that suggests the sabre rattling between the US and the USSR during the Cold War wasn't much different than the gimmicky horror movies of Lawrence Woolsey (William Castle, in other words), except for real lives being at stake with the former. Smoke and mirrors to sell a story (or an ideology).

Hence, Woolsey's great lines: "You think grown-ups know what they're doing? That's just a hustle, kid. Grown-ups are making it up as they go along, just like you. You remember that, and you'll do fine."

I love it for that.

The Robocop 2 UHD should have a pretty vibrant PQ....it's full of 80's lighting / colors

If the blu looked like shit it would be an instant buy.

Unless it's a favorite of mine, I tend to only buy 4k's of movies that I don't already own or the previous release is subpar, Iike Species II.

Still waiting for a 4K UHD ugrade of at least one of the three Hammer CE's that already have 4K scans:

Curse of the Werewolf (1961)
The Evil of Frankenstein (1964)
The Vampire Lovers (1970)

Take this with a grain of salt, but the YouTube channel “In Search of Physical Media” just uploaded a video commenting on the recent announcements.
@ the 15:36 mark he mentions that RoboCop 3 is also going to be coming out on 4K. It’s just taking a little longer.

Once again, take this with a grain of salt, but according to him, he’s got a studio insider that informed him. so yeah there’s that.
Wouldn't surprise me considering how the Robocop announcements sort of felt incomplete without 3 being there.

We’ll see if its legit.

Yes yes please this film is so desperate for a Blu-Ray. I don't think Shout would do it though it sounds more like a film MVD, or Kino Lorber, or Sony themselves would put on Blu-Ray. They haven't released very many new to Blu-Ray films lately since January. Which, is quite sad really as there's still a number of titles on my list that don't have Blu-Rays whatsoever. Very underrated superhero comedy film that gets way too much hate from critics even today.

Always wondered why scream or even the movie's distributor never did a release for 'Vacancy' from 2007. That's a fun one.
