Sweet nice choice on this setup I hope you love em cause I do love mines. Wow exactly the same speakers. Keep us posted but they will sound great after that break in period even though they sound good already out of the box.

Great deal for the canuck Energy fans here at FS http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...0111879&catid=

199$ for a CF-30 the new connaisseur series. I've auditionned them and they sound a tiny bit brighter than the old c-series but still very nice and natural, and they incorporated some of the older veritas technology which was top of the line Energy.

so my 545 arrived at the house yesterday, and my wife was worried about how the packaging looked so she wanted me to test it. of course i humbly obliged. no worries about the packing with this sucker, it's built like a friggin tank, and it's darn heavy for just a 100x2 amp, at least in my opinion.

so i hook the sucker up to the c500s...

regular tv watching-really not that much difference. i did a quick auto-cal with my yammie and it actually sounded a little muted with the amp. meh...

blu ray-popped in transformers-awesomely awesome

music-one of my wife's cds-she even noticed the difference. here is where i think having a separate amp really is noticeable. it was just so clear and dynamic, a really big difference from just the receiver driving the c500s.

conclusion-i'll still have to wait for my b-day to really get my hands on the sucker to tinker. hopefully i'll be able to find a nice balance. from what i noticed though, the 500s love a little xtra juice in the music dept...

yeah, I wish I had purchased a receiver with pre-outs now... I think I may need to upgrade to a Marantz so I have a receiver with a really strong internal amp. Then add an external amp, like the Rotel 1075/1076 amp a little later.

Hehe, I can see yourself getting another c-50 to use as back surround to take full advantage of true HD Sound if you're going for the Marantz-Rotel combo . But are'nt 1075/76 5 and 6 channel amps, why not the 1077?

I'm curious as of why you're using only 1 back surround with your STR-DG920, isn't it Dolby True HD /DTS HD?

in my house where the 7th speaker should be is the dining room, so there is no way to setup a 7th speaker, the 6th speaker sits at the last possible place on the bookshelf behind the living room couches. If you look at my gallery you will see 2 speakers on the bookshelf, one is to the extreme right(If your standing facing the bookshelf or Left Surround) and one(the Sony which is no longer there) to the extreme left of the bookshelf which is about dead center to the seating area. then there is the right surround which sits on the "table". In between the C-50(sony picture) and the one on the table is an 12 foot opening to the dining room.

Therefore I was thinking of getting either a 5 or 6 channel amp to drive the speakers, not really sure if I need the 6th channel amplified or not tho.

The Sony 920, is full HD, it does a great job of matrixing to the 6th channel, whether from 5 or 7 channel audio. It is actually really good with the Energys too. Although I find the Sony receivers to be a little more digital sounding then say Yamaha or Marantz, they tend to be neutral in sound. at least to me. Although I would say with 6 channels being driven it is prolly only pushing 50-55 wpc, it is powerful enough and has good headroom for peaks in audio.

If I really would have thought about it, I would have got the Sony ES2400 at the time and then had the pre-outs I need, but I was looking at the 2 and was like, well they are the same except one has pre-outs and an RS232 port, 2 things I don't need.... Doh! BTW this was before I had the Energys, so I wasn't thinking I was gonna pre-amp to the old sony speakers...

But can I ask a small favor ??? any chance you can redo this one with a brushed silver kinda look ?? If you need a pic for an example please let me know. That way it would match the others I'm getting.

thanks
I'll sure as hell give it a go 4x12. Give us a while and I'll see what I can come up with.

Edit: That didn't take long. Just a simple case of desaturating the layers. Is this any good ? :

There's a reason for everything. It becomes a 6.1 HD lossless audio instead. Not that many movies are 7.1 anyways, alot of em out there are hd 5.1. I was just curious. I'm getting off topic here.

I use Neo 6 cinema as the post processor for matrixing, the Sony asks how you want to do it, since it is the only true 6 channel post processor I use that, but DD PLIIx is pretty good too.

You should hear Top Gun in TRUE 6.1 DTS HD, it is awesome. I heard people say that they have used the DTS mix to play on 5.1 and its not that great, but its great on mine... I wish there were more 6.1 audio movies out there...

Hey this is a thread dedicated to Energy owners so nothing is off topic! We are talking audio with regards to the speakers so it is totally on topic, hell, you can talk boxers, briefs or boxer-briefs if you want. <- not really, but you get the point.
