I watch most of my stuff with my BD drive and Monitor.4K disks is not supported for computer drives. It was for a brief period but very expensive whne it was and is not at all now. Even if I get a 4K T.V. and 4K player, that is not the location I enjoy watching my physical media at. I only use my bigger screen T.V. for when I have company.

That's why I strongly disagree with people who think they should just drop the BD disk from a release like this. If there is already a previous Blu Ray release, then I can buy doing that. I do like taking advantage of the combos Scream Factory does (and they even upgrade/remaster the BD disk too) to get films I never had or only on VHS.I also get the steelbooks that are combos but those I'm buying for the BD disk, not the 4K disk and the actualy steelbook. So I like combo packs because I'm not upgrading to 4K but I understand why catalog titles from some studios like WB drop the BD disks when there is already a previous BD release.A good example is the just announced Chinatown 4K.It is 4K only (plus The Two Jakes on BD).There is already a couple of previous BD releases of Chinatown so I understand this new one being 4K disk only for that movie.

True Lies and The Abyss are different. There is no official Blu Ray releases of these two films until now. So to not include them would really suck if Disney wasn't going to do a standalone Blu Ray release for them. They either needed to do that or do a combo with the 4K disks. They went with the latter and probably the combo works better for thme for production costs reasons then giving each a standalone Blu Ray release.I've harped on it many times that it was scummy of WB not to put The Rocky Vs Drago cut of Rocky IV on Blu Ray disk too. The only way to have Rocky Vs Drago on physical media is 4K disk only.Even the Best Buy exclusive steelbook only had the old Blu Ray disk that is the theatrical cut. There is no way to have Rocky Vs Drago on physical media if you can't play a 4K disk and i just don't think that's right.

So I applaud Disney for giving The Abyss and True Lies Blu Ray releases too and not screwing over users of this format who don't have an option to go back to an old BD release to have it on that format in the U.S. unless you get a bootleg or track down that Spanish one for True Lies (is that an official release?).

I agree that stack cases suck and I hate them. They are probably cheaper for the studios over the ones that have arms or spots for more then two disks.

emw107 nothing wrong with your condition of a stand alone blu-ray being offered too. It then gives people the choice

Because scratching the other discs is no better. The three of them should be protected correctly. We're paying for all the discs.

I'm not yet equiped for UltraHD playback, so the regular Blu IS my main disc right now.

I have no use for the UltraHD disc right now. I bought the set for the regular Blu, as it's unavailable otherwise.

We need a "Made in Germany. Encoded by SONY." label on our discs.

One of the very few comparison videos I watch and he makes some very good points. Of course, Twin F***s had to make an appearance in his comment section spouting noise. But that's ok. Even flies deserve a life, even though they eat s***.

The Abyss 4K Blu-ray Review : An in-depth technical analysis and so much more - YouTube
He has some points but I am still not buying into this. At a later stage, once nobody wants them and the price is dirt cheap I'll probably buy The Abyss.
In regard of the other two, even if someone gives them for free to me, there is no way I waste any time watching such mess.

I don't blame you at all. These are completely botched releases and The Abyss and Titanic happen to suffer the least from it. They need new scans from the OCN and a proper (meaning minimal grain management) restoration done to them.

you may not agree with the gentleman assignment of the 3 Cameron films. He is far from the *******s on the internet.

Seriously, I am in no rush, it could be years and I won't notice because of the pile of new discs I have waiting to played.

Plus, there seems to be and endless supply of new good transfers hitting the market regularly to add to the backlog.

One can only spend so much time watching movies and there are plenty of others.

I could buy these JC discs in 5 years and I'll have the same varying level of disappointment I would have watching them now
