it is just the Atmos track that's affected but there were three errors that originated with the 2000 DVD release on the 5.1 track (the 2.0 track was fine)

-incorrect dialogue in one scene when Bud asks why Lindsey came down to the rig
theatrical version:
"so what are you doing down here hot rod?"
special edition:
"yeah? well what are you doing down here?"

on the DVD, the special edition used the theatrical cut dialogue and fortunately this error was fixed on the Atmos track

-incorrect music note whenever the

[Show spoiler]alien ship rises from the sea

-incorrect music looping whenever the crew is

[Show spoiler]walking around on the surface of the ship as they exit the rig

unfortunately those two errors are retained on the Atmos track but what's fortunate is neither the 2.0 (included on the 4K) or 5.1 track on the BD are affected and are all correct, so it appears that it's only an issue if you watch the special edition with the Atmos track

My 2nd copy arrives today... hopefully the freezing/glitching around 1:08:00 and 2:37:00-2:45:00 (yes I took notes)! is resolved now.

I watched the eBay copy and it played perfectly all the way through...until about 3 minutes from the end of the credits! I suppose I'll have to take it for now. The new disc plays perfectly until, as others mentioned, near the end of the credits.. 2:48-2:49. I can live with that.

Just happy it doesn’t interrupt the movie anymore.

Thanks, I love this guy. His reviews are always thorough and he's very entertaining to listen too. Also, I never noticed the blooper with the guy having his shorts pulled down exposing his bare ass.

Amazingly, mine played all the way through to end of the credits on my notoriously glitchy (on BD100 discs) Sony X700 without a problem, with a small usb fan blasting the heat sink with the top off. Hadn't seen it for decades. Enjoyed it.

Seems like every YT review misses something that people here pick out. Missing audio, bad compression. What's the point of watching bad reviews?
