Would also like to know, although I've only watched it once. The audio seemed a lot better than the first barebones Canadian BD I used to own, which had effects way too loud and voices way too low. That one also has a different color scheme, like all filters removed. Everything looked more natural, but worse all at once. Red cars were orange. I would bet the filters were a choice seeing how they are on every other release of this I have ever seen from VHS all the way to BD.

I wish I could get hyped and expect some sort of anniversary SE, but fear it won't happen. It should've by now, the film grows less popular with age, slight hint of Weinstein around it. I ain't saying never yet, but I'm thinking it.

The Alliance steelbook has an audio dropout at 1:22:47 when Jacob is getting bitten by Sex Machine.

I'll check it in a bit, or probably tomorrow (kid is sleeping).
You might want to put the last part in spoiler tags. I've seen people complain about them for older and more famous movies than this (Jaws), you just never know.
Thanks for the answer.

I just checked my Canadian Steelbook disc at 1:22:47, rolled my eyes at how insignificant I found the dropout to be, and then placed the disc/Steelbook back on the shelf.

Thanks for the information.

I'm glad you can live with a flawed product. Especially when there are versions without the issue and looks just as good.

I'm hoping to feel the same way, either way, I'm keeping it for the extras if nothing else.

I can't test right now as wife and kids are sleeping and I'm drinking, but I can compare it to the US version in the 4-film set tomorrow, which I would assume is the same as every other Echo Bridge version; probably slightly more compressed than solo one. Unfortunately (for this occasion), I sold my old dvd set and barebones Canadian BD after getting the steel. VHS and VHS player are long dead.

It's a bummer that almost no one will ever get to see this movie completely blind and ignorant like I did. I skipped the theater and only saw it cuz my girl at the time wanted to. Didn't look at the cover when she rented it, just knew it was the movie with the cute TV doctor in it playing a badass. What a great ****ing ride knowing nothing about the second half, esp with how smooth the first half flowed. Now that was a ****ing twist!!!!

Now, shit. Now I can't check my ****ing email without last night's TV show being spoiled.

The audio dropout is less than a second. I suppose I COULD be upset by it, but why? What's the point of letting my blood pressure escalate over something so trivial? In the grand scheme of things, is it really that big of a deal?

To me, it isn't. If it truly bothers you, that's kinda pitiful.

Sorry I didn't do my promised checking yesterday, but it was hangover day.

Today I did it and yes there is a less than 1 second drop where noted. That is not on the US disc and also is not on the dvd included in the steel. The dvd included in the steel is the same as the US CE dvd (disc 1) as it plays windowboxed/non-anamorphic and the menus look exactly how I recall that disc looking. Not even an Alliance logo on start-up (the BD does have that logo). Not a huge deal, but now that I know it is there, I'll hear it. From quickly watching that scene 5 times between the discs, the transfer on the multi-pack looks identical except for the audio drop.

Also skimmed Full Tilt Boogie and it is cropped to 1.78 from the 1.33 it was on the 2-disc dvd. That kinda sucks as I always want OAR and know that was shot with VHS (and still looks like VHS cropped on the BD). If that ever bugs me enough, I'm sure I could find the dvd cheap enough (starting at 33 cents on amazon, but + $3.99 shipping + $0.26 estimated tax). Them ****ers taxing shipping! Pretty sure they have one at the local used record store for $2-3, but I doubt I'll bother. I've seen it already and didn't recall tons of replay value. If I feel the need to watch again, cropped will suffice.

Buy.com *From dusk till dawn Best region A blu-ray version?

Hi I am wondering what is the best region A Blu-ray version to get of from dusk till dawn?

And is there a PQ difference in the echo 2011 and the lionsgate 2014 Blu ray?

I think they're the same discs. As is the recent Paramount reissue.

The film recently had a 4K restoration, so I'd honestly suggest waiting to see if Paramount or someone will release it. Otherwise look through this thread for a better foreign release.

All the same.

Some people think the Canadian release is "better," but none of the Blu-rays are very good.

Personally, I'd hold out for a 4K too.

And just a general rule, avoid Echo Bridge at all costs if there are alternatives.

Yeah but in the case of 99% of Miramax’s films, the same disc master EB used has been passed to Lionsgate and Paramount.

Scream got a new 4K master and disc and From Dusk Till Dawn is supposedly next. Best to wait.

What about encoding-wise? It's been a while since I read about an EB release, but I remember their encoding wasn't too good.

Since it is the same disc master, it is whatever encoding EB did. The only changes were disc and cover art. The Lionsgate and Paramount discs for some of these movies have the Echo Bridge opening.

And I just have 2 more questions, with the original canadian alliance disc, is it really 21mbps or 15? On this site it says 15 but I read a couple of there places it's 21.

And my second question is, does the original alliance disc have the orange color problem or was that just more the us echo and re-releases?
