Looking at @danielsantosortega's screenshot the 3D for this movie is in post-production. But as you probably already know, they scrapped the original movie, a lot of which was already shot (just like the Wanda movie). Apparently they are still working out how much of the original movie to keep and how much to totally rewrite and reshoot. Spider-man NWH was in a much better position from start to finish and we still didn't get the a proper "final" release in 3D so there's no chance that the 3D for a movie that is still being rewritten is in "post-production" lol.

But at least the screenshot also suggests a 3D release for Deadpool vs Wolverine which is potentially great news. But it's likely to be an Apple exclusive which is exactly why I don't like the chances of a 3D revival in the long term. However in related news, Bob Iger has just admitted on the latest Wall St earnings call the failure of his D+ dream. He says he is seeking licensing partners for what was always supposed to be exclusive D+ content. Meta could potentially be one such partner for 3D content.

It's really simple, just give the customers what they want and they'll pay you for it. Make your product too exclusive and you won't make any money from it. No 3D Blu-ray = no sale!

Exclusive or not, if you keep making stuff that no one wants to watch then current subscribers leave and are not replaced by new ones.

I don't think this is entirely Disney's choice, i am pretty sure Apple dropped quite an amount to have exclusivity on the 3D titles via their head set, after all it is one of it's biggest selling points for their device.

If this movie is testing poorly and lots of reshoots are being done and its doomed from start, just release it as a limited NY/LA premiere kind of thing and then D+ and be done with it.

True. But if the device isn't selling well (which it isn't) then everything is up for negotiation.

I hope for Mackie that this turns out well and this is kind of a flagship movie for Disney so I don't see them doing a Batgirl with this. But then again, Iger has already crossed a red line for D+ so who knows?
