It goes case by case.

Edit: I have just seen that Turbine have announced a 4 disc edition of The Last Emperor but tragically none of those discs include the 3D version.

They are a very small label but also very passionate about their releases and friendly to international customers so I too really hope they can get their 3D releases out and make them special. They did announce them though so there's no reason to worry, it is just going to take time, that is all.

If I was getting to re-release Jurassic World: Dominion I would at minimum try to offer the extended cut in partial 3D but given time and resources I'd get on to the AIPOP-3D guys try and get the extended cut footage into 3D, that would really be something.

Turbine are a very small company, they take a long time over some releases.

In hindsight, I feel they shouldn’t have announced anything until their 3D Blu-rays were ready for release.

That's never a good idea because by then it's too late to change anything - I think announcing titles as early as possible is best, it allows customers to provide feedback on what they want.

Just hoping these German 3D Blu-ray re-releases will happen, followed by some spectacular Universal 3D movie titles already licenced digitally to Apple. There is hope!

Are we there yet?

I'd love to see what they have already planned besides the 3D re-releases. Hype improves sales, cold moments not. :/

They are having some delays on other titles, i.e Pearl which the steelbook has been out but the media book is delayed until possibly June, same with Renfield. Those 3D releases are most likely for Q3 or the last quarter of 2024.

Went ahead and bought the bundle even though I already own all 3 from RSM. I really like that they were upfront in mentioning in their newsletter that they plan to continue to release additional titles in the future as well. I will say though that even though I, and others, are happy to fully support this initial batch of titles, I think they will probably see diminishing returns if whatever comes next are just more previously-released titles.

Not to mention the lack of portuguese subtitles for Jurassic World Dominion and dubbing and subtitles for The Bad Guys and Minions The Rise of Gru. I had real hope that they would add them but it looks like they don't care to make more money.

It has better audio this time, Turbine did the extra work and added the Atmos track to all 3 3D discs, no need to do at home remuxing.

Germany Turbine Collector Series Blu-ray 3D

I figured it was worth starting a new thread, especially if they continue with more 3D releases...

English Announcement: https://turbine.de/turbine-collector...etter-english/

Wave 1 - May 23, 2024

Turbine Collector Series #01 - Jurassic World: Dominion
Turbine Collector Series #02 - Minions: The Rise of Gru
Turbine Collector Series #03 - The Bad Guys

On May 23, we’re launching the „Turbine Collector Series“ with selected films in 3D. We’ll start with JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION, MINIONS – THE RISE OF GRU and THE BAD GUYS. In addition to 3D video, our discs contain German and English 3D audio in Dolby Atmos as well as French, Spanish and Italian in 7.1* (* THE GANGSTER GANG contains Spanish audio in 5.1).

Each title comes in a Scanavo full sleeve box, has a reversible sleeve with alternative artwork and the original English title on the front and spine. The releases are numbered on the spine and will look great in any serious movie enthusiast’s collection. The discs are region code-free and playable worldwide.

We are currently planning further 3D titles. But of course the continuation of the Turbine Collector Series also depends on the impact of these three films. So please spread the word if you love 3D. Thank you!

I think they will need to gauge this with consideration that everyone who was most interested will have already bought these from RSM. So it might be a tough sell starting the series with releases we already have, and I hope they don't see low sales and then decide to call it a day.

So, "douple dip" just for better sound & supporting the format!

I didn’t buy these three from RSM; the only one of that wave I got was Sing 2. The other three didn’t look very good to me. But I might buy this three-pack just to support Turbine’s most-appreciated efforts. Very glad they’re including reversible artwork with the English titles. I really hope this takes off. Which titles could we conceivably hope to see released from prison? Curious that they started off with re-releases. If they’re going to re-release any more, they should do Spider-Verse and Venom. Otherwise, I wanna see Bumblebee, Venom 2, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, and Super Mario Bros. getting announced. I’d definitely be in for all four of those. I’m guessing that No Time to Die is off the table.

Also, I don’t have a Dolby Atmos setup, just a 7.1, so I’m hoping the English tracks will still sound okay.

We already have a Turbine thread (this one) so starting a new thread just fragments the discussion.

All three titles look great in 3D - nothing super showy but they wipe the floor with the 2D versions. I will be rebuying all three as an investment in future releases.

I'm all for having a release with better sound, my only concern is if there is any sacrifice of the video bitrate, especially longer (and dark) films such as Jurassic World: Dominion that need the video bitrate for a good encode, especially when you're also adding a bunch of extra language tracks that weren't on the RSM release.

Would like to see Sony titles like "Men in Black: International" and "Garfield" in the future. I think there is still a (small) chance of a No Time To Die 3D disc release. It is already released digitally on Apple Vision, so there should be some kind of home media mastering files for the 3D version already stored at Universal. If not blocked by an Apple contract, this might see the the light of the day on disc! Most wanted titles of the animation movies is "Puss in boots 2", because this is the only one not even available digitally.
