That commenter said the film La guerre est finie (1966) had burned in subs, but that wasn't released by Film Movement, but by The Film Desk:

Hmmm. I guess he might have gotten mixed up with something else.
I just looked at the Film Movements trailer for Hotel and has me concerned now because if that trailer is a representation of their mastering then it is very dark on certain scenes. Will do a comparison with the dvd I have and will post screenshots if they are off. Gotta check now...

*EDIT* I downloaded the trailer which played differently from my browser. Weird. It looks fine.

I made a post about this last week, but deleted it because I thought it might be too speculative. I noticed The Great Silence was in a list of titles being discontinued on a Canadian distributor's site. This same site had listed All About Lily Chou before that, and that got re-released as an OCN Partner title. I now see The Great Silence Bluray has been removed from Film Movement's site, so I'm guessing it'll be a future partner label re-release too?

It's already been released as a partner label title.

Oh ..Well I guess I wasn't completely wrong then . I thought we'd be seeing a new release with an exclusive slipcover, etc...like the Samurai Wolf films. I do wish Film Movement's site pointed to the partner label releases, as many of their titles like this one, All About Lily Chou, and others are simply being removed from their site.

It seems like a title that would get a new slip, but I guess not for now. I'm hoping we get some new to disc Film Movement titles in June, but wouldn't be surprised if we get another rerelease like Violent Steets which is a great film, but man I want those Fukasaku titles already.

Maybe someone who has more familiarity with Film Movement can answer this, since I've tried emailing them and DMing them on Instagram with no response.

They have Candy Mountain listed as an upcoming title on their website: https://www.filmmovement.com/candy-mountain

Is this going to be available to purchase on blu-ray? All I see is "educational pricing" information.

I made a thread on here a while back for it, as Film Movement Classics releases typically result in a Blu-ray release. They're super slow to get things out though, but I do believe it'll come out eventually. Either from them, or perhaps as an OCN Partner label title.

Edit: Their page for it says this also "IN THEATERS 10.25.2024 OR WATCH AT HOME 12.13.2024" so it'll still be some time yet before we know for sure.

Here's the thread: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=364931

This is existing Film Movement stock that we are selling, we did not manufacture a new OCN release of The Great Silence

Oh ok. Well, MifuneFan might be on to something then and wouldn't be surprised if it's getting another release.

Film Movement advertised a 40% off sale for Memorial Day, but another member (TheGoldenGunman) spotted that it's actually 60%. Probably the lowest you'll see these titles sold by them.

https://www.filmmovement.com/search/view-by/blu-ray

A few examples:

Violent Streets - $15.98
Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy - $15.98
Samurai Wolf 1 and 2 - $19.98
Fritz Lang's Indian Epic - $21.98

Thank you for posting this sale! I ordered:

I'm most excited to see The Wild Goose Lake, I'd never heard/seen anything about this one. Watched the trailer and I was sold:

Held off buying Samurai Wolf 1 & 2. From the review here, it sounds like the gamma may be better on the Eureka/Masters of Cinema set. Couldn't find any direct comparisons but would love to know if that's actually the case.

Wish I'd noticed that title before I placed my order. Don't want to pay the shipping for a single title. Not sure if it's worth asking them to cancel and I'll reorder.

I never checked before, but yeah, Eureka has superior gamma/contrast levels. I wasn't crazy about the FM screenshots, but the Eureka ones shown at DVDBeaver look better to me:

I’d rebuy The Great Silence for a slip
