I'm curious which support Turbine will get from studios other than Universal. There are still so many unreleased 3D-Titles from Disney, WB, Sony, not to forget the latest James Bond from MGM, which is now Amazon I guess.

The disc is packed to the teeth. DTS:X or TrueHD take up too much bandwith and would not have fit this 3D disc without sacrificing video quality. The Atmos mix is still the original mix by Universal used in theatres. We encoded it in DD+ for the project - this has nothing to do with what streaming services do. We wanted to have the Atmos mix on the disc and found a way to make it work. Whenever a TrueHD Atmos fits a project we'll make use of that.

I believe that No Time To Die is still being distributed by Universal, so that might bode well for us regarding a 3D physical release. I'm actually hoping that everything that is available from Universal on the Apple Vision Pro, is licensable to Turbine. We'll be having releases for months to come. |

I was lucky enough recently to pick up an very cheap used copy of the blu-ray and the DTSx track lines up perfectly without any adjustments. Not sure when I will watch it but I will let you know.

The bitrate is higher on the RSM release, but darthlaser confirmed Turbine did their own encoding, so that also speaks volume. Like I mentioned on my mini review of JW: Dominion, the Turbine disc is very good and the image was stellar.
From looking at all 3 bdinfo's of the Turbine discs, it looks to me they are going for an average of 20mbps for the left eye and 10mbps for the right eye. If they are able to maintain the current quality standard, specially for live action footage with this bitrate, I don't think we'll ever have anything to complain. Just as an example, below is the bitrate for the movie Avergers: Endgame in 3D, and that disc is amazing, despite the the right eye's bitrate being even lower. (even taking into account that Endgame was in scope and Dominion is pretty much full screen) VIDEO: Codec Bitrate Description ----- ------- ----------- MPEG-4 AVC Video 20654 kbps Left Eye / 1080p / 23.976 fps / 16:9 / High Profile 4.1 MPEG-4 MVC Video 6927 kbps Right Eye JW: Dominion's encode give me hope that if and when we get No Time To Die, that will also be an amazing disc. |

![]() Agree that the Endgame disc is great, but when the video is viewed on a large projector screen, the low bitrates are noticable. Would be so crazy good to have that film over 2 discs with better bitrates ![]() |

Honestly, for all the flak Star Wars films have had flung at them over the years, I think that is the one that deserves the most: I thought the decision not to reunite the three stars was utterly inexplicable, inexcusable and entirely idiotic*. And, because of that, I really thought it was a particular joy to see the way it was done in Dominion. *I mean, unless one of the three had outright refused to be on screen with one of the others, but I'm unaware of any such bad blood. |
