Arrow MegaMind Review Thread (Use Spoiler Tags)

Quote:
A satirical take on superhero movies, in which a notorious villain loses his oomph after he accidentally kills his nemesis Metro Man. My guess is that's Metro Man in the white and that's our villain, to be voiced by Robert Downey Jr., on the right in blue. As I mentioned in the line-up article, DWA has been criticized for never making any movies about actual humans, only talking animals. So this is one of their first features doing just that (besides, obviously, Monsters vs Aliens). While I was initially looking forward to this based on the concept, these character designs seem a bit bland and boring. Oh well, keep trying DreamWorks!

Default LOL, Robert Downey JR Is Replaced for This Title

hey,

This is an Update:

Robert Downey JR was replaced by Will Ferrell. Did Anyone Ask for A KFC

Quote:
Robert Downey Jr won’t be voicing the title character in DreamWorks Animation’s Oobermind after all. Variety reports that Will Ferrell has replaced Downey Jr. in DWA’s response to Pixar’s The Incredibles. No word on why Downey decided to drop out of the project. Aside from the story being a superhero satire, he was a large reason I was interested in the project, But to combat the bad news, DreamWorks has also revealed that Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill will also be providing voices for the project. Both names are not only typical casting decisions from DreamWorks Animation, but have both previously voiced characters for DWA features.

Enjoy.

Although a mysterious quote, about "Let's see, Iron Man 2, Sherlock Holmes, and maybe a future 'comeback' shot at another Oscar project, or doing a Shrek sequel....OOH, HOW WILL I DECIDE??" was left unexplained without comment.

Looks a lot like THE INCREDIBLES to me, but then again, Dreamworks ripping off Pixar movies isn't unheard of.

Could be interesting to see a Bruce Campbell look-a-like fighting the Destroy All Humans alien.

At quick glance, sound's a lot like a ripoff on The Incredibles (my favorite PIXAR movie) so I am not so sure. I will wait to see more. So far Dreamworks only movie I found good is Kung Fu Panda.

Yeah, Panda was probably one of the best, but Shrek 1 and 2 were both pretty good. I even enjoyed Over the Hedge.

Don't care for any of the others.

I don't think this is a rip-off of the Incredible (other than dealing with Super-Heroes).

Looks like these guys are going for a satirical comedy - the Incredibles was more of an homage to superheroes.

Shrek was alright but it got old quickly after that. I think there was no good reason to make the other 2 movies.

Over The Edge is not a Dreamworks movie, it was by Sony I think??

I am willing to give Dreamworks more and more chances since Kung Fu Panda. I saw Monsters vs Aliens, not bad, I won't buy it on BD even if it's going to look very good on BD. I just don't see myself wanting to see this movie often enough for a purchase.

I will probably go and see this one as well.

Oh ouch! I wonder how far they were into production when Robert Downey Jr left. Animated movies usually have the actors do their lines and then animated the characters to match. How long does it actually take to animate a film like this? It is supposed to be out in a little over a year. How long have Dreamworks Animation know that he was off the project? Didn't they just announce their upcoming movies a couple months ago and said that this one would be starring Robert Downey Jr? Did he leave or was he fired??? Will Farrel is a big change from RDJ. So many questions. Maybe he realized the script was so bad and thought he had better pass. It seems to me that they would have already had the voices recorded for this a long time ago.

Never heard of Over the Edge? I would love to see this movie though, looks like it'll be their best film since the first Shrek came out in 2001.

Antz was alright but for some reason it got more boring over time but Woddy Allen is funny in that movie.

Default Dreamworks MegaMind (Teaser Trailer)

Source: Empire

Quote:
Master mind, Oobermind, and now MegaMind: whatever you’ve known him as, one thing’s for certain, he’s pretty damn evil and stuff, and he’s got a really big blue head (and ergo, a really big brain). Oh, and he’s being voiced by Will Ferrell. Awesome!

The latest Dreamworks piece, it’s due to hit our screens December 3 this year (we know, nine goshdarn months away) and this is the latest, oh so very bloody exclusive teaser trailer, just for you.

The basic premise of the film (for those of you not in the know) is that a big ol’ supervillain (Ferrell as MegaMind) accidentally defeats his age old nemesis Metro Man (voiced by none other than Brad motherflippin’ Pitt) and finds himself at a loss at what to do.

Cue much wailing and the gnashing of the teeth, until he has a clever idea of creating a new good guy enemy – called Titan (played by Jonah Hill) who ends up going… bad as well. And MegaMind has to do something about it… and be a good guy in the process. Urgh. Nasty.

With additional voice talents coming in the form of Tina Fey (swoon) , it’s got to be good. Got to be. Seriously, you had us at Will Ferrell.
Never gotten Excited for a new Dreamworks movie since Kung Fu Panda, should be good

looks funny! I'm surprised Will Ferrel has not been doing voive animation much. Seems like he is perfect for it. He was good on the Oblongs.
