Got it. Thanks for the clarification. I take it, then, that StudioCanal's encoding on their UK discs is considered superior to Kino's in the States?

I think so. I'm personally not the biggest fan of Kino's encoding but I can take it. The UK do have some pretty well-known encoding companies like Fidelity in Motion and I personally believe the UK is home to the strongest encoders in the business at the moment.

Fidelity in Motion is an American encoding house.
(And yes, it is annoyingly ironic that the best encodes come from the UK using an American encoding house....When American companies like Criterion, Kino and Shout do not use them.)

Isn't it run by a Scot though? Probably has better contacts with the UK industry. Who knows? I'm just guessing.

The Kino blu ray was very high quality and with extras. It doesn't seem to be a random hope that the 4K will shine, too.

Yes, but David now permanently resides in the U.S. Has lived here for many years (over a decade at this point I believe). His brother Michael is still in Scotland and a producer at Arrow.

StudioCanal is hit or miss, they've got quite a few terrible discs. It's really a crapshoot but there's a chance it'll be not-bad. It's worth waiting though because even then it's got a higher chance of being better than Kino.
