I'm more concerned about the BLU movies and if they are done right. And of course getting good stuff on BLU.

I'm not buying garbage, period.

I don't care if Transformers somehow came out on BLU tomorrow, I wouldn't buy it. The movie was so-so at best.

This is true, but you might be missing something important that person might have to say. I mean sometimes even an idiot can confound a genius (okay, I don't know where I got that from). It is not always good to put people you don't want to listen to on ignore...the person might have a completely valid conversation that you might want to hear.

The Buy-a-thon on the 18th is to support blu but was started when this forum hit 10,000 members. Just a celebration of that. A time to add a movie to your collection. You dont need to buy 50 Blu's or even take part really. I am not really into buy-a-thon's either, but I might add a title or two to my collection on that day.

Activism is fine . . . but we don't need a new activism thread for every bit of news, or a letter-writing campaign for every bit of news. The Paramount thing is over and done, the Warner thing was a blip, but nothing we're going to do changes either one . . . we'll all buy Blu-ray movies, we don't need somebody, everyday, posting about how important it is to buy this or that. We're all (hopefully) relatively intelligent people who know that sales promote success.

The Buy-a-thon is a cool idea, I have no problem with that, because it's not a knee-jerk, OMG, somebody made an announcement, we all need to go buy as many movies as possible. Support is what we all need to show, but we don't need a support-promotion thread for everything.

I joined because this site has the most up to date info on media being released on BD. I try not to get caught up in the war, I just happen to be a BD owner and hope the format lasts and gets support from all the studios eventually.

Allthough I thought the Paramount decision was a little transparent and lame.

For me Sept 18th the start all of the great blu-ray releases. There us a lot of great stuff that will be coming out, and Tues is the start of that for me. Because we are starting to get more blus on the market, by buying a bunch of blus all I am trying to say is, "I love what this format can do, look at how much I believe in it, I just bought x-amount of movies." For me it is just the kick off to a holiday season that will see my income evaporate.

Then my own blu-bloods took off and people went crazy. It was in the name of fun, but some people did not or could not see that. So I changed the venue and now we represent all that you hold dear about this board. So I urge you to join us. You are a worthy alli. When people see blu-bloods, they will come to think of us as classy "in the know" guys. And not the war mongers we played up for fun.

I agree we need to do our part so the studios know we are the obvious choice, but do we always have to sound like we are in a panic when we do it? Think quality posts - not quantity.

all I can get out of this is you grew up under powerlines.

I've made posts about people being war mongering tools before.

I love the information I get on this site from useful people , dare I say adults.
someone put a link to this site at a school for retards I believe.

You could say these tools are +1 for blu ray.
but really it's almost a negative. these kids embarrass me.
they have turned this site into their "playground" instead of the information exchange it was probably intended for.

so because I chose blu ray as my format , I have to associate myself with these tools ?

if all anyone every knew about blu ray they learned from this site , there would be a wealth of information , but if they chose to read the other 50% of threads they'd think wtf ? yu gi oh ?
if I did'nt know better and I thought the forum was filled with the garbage useually in the top post secton , I'd of never checked out this site other than to read about the "blu bloods" I'd of clicked "x" and never returned and bought a hd dvd player just to not be associated with asinine peoples.

so load up your wanna b internet gang kiddies and roll out.

i'd lmfao at some tool who 20 years ago started a vhs blood gang.
you know thats why vhs won .....

winning and loseing dosent always refer to WAR , wining and loseing can be associated with competeing.
with the love of war you are either a relative of the us president or of middle eastern descent.

I'm joining the buy-a-thon because it's my birthday and I am getting Troy anyways...

I've said what you are talking about before...

I only flame the trolls and I do not post on any other forum related to HD other than this because I get all the information that I am looking for.....right here...

we don't need to focus on the war, we need to focus on maintaining what position we currently have and encourage people to purchase Blu-rays ..or even to choose a side and inform them correctly about the pro's and con's to each format...

The reason I chose Blu was the storage, you will always need storage. The main reason the war is still going is Toshiba would lose respect in the technology field and lots of money in investing on a bad product. In a way it's good to have a competitor, because SONY will strive to make a the product better.

Now, the site has exploded into what it is now, which, I have absolutely NO problem with new people finding and appreciating Blu-ray. However, everyday I'm finding multiple posts and multiple members who don't seem to be here for that reason.

I'm talking about the increasing amount of posts and members who seem to be here for the format war, and not the format. If there were no format war, half of the posts in this forum would not exist, nor would most of the animosity and ignorance that has seemed to spread. If my first visit to the site had been within the last two weeks, I would have been very unimpressed with what I've found. For some reason, we need a rally thread to buy more discs for every little news announcement. We all like Blu-ray, and if we see something we want, we'll buy the damn thing. We don't need instructions on the importance of this. We seem to have some sort of petition or letter writing campaign for every bit of bad news. We have people who start and advertise their trolling threads in other forums, and then the same people ***** because somebody got pissed that they're trolling, but then expect people not to troll on our site. All of this is unnecessary, and really detracts from the feel this forum once had. I would expect that most people who are buying and appreciating Blu-ray are of some age that that make enough money to buy the things needed to appreciate Blu-ray, and I would expect a lot higher level of maturity from a lot higher proportion of members on this site.

So . . . flame me if you want, but I know there are a lot of people that agree with me. Nobody's a more valuable person than another because they chose Blu-ray over HD-DVD, and if you feel that you are because you made that choice, then you need to get a grip and discover that there are many things that are a LOT more important than the format war.

I and others would love it if we could focus a bit more on the format, and a lot less on the war.
I agree fully.

Man, if there was ever an opinion I agreed with more...it's this one right here^

To add my own personal spin on the situation, Myself and others feel like we have invested alot into this site, and while this small group of people I mention don't feel we are "Owed" anything neccessarily, we do feel like we should be given some credibility when debates rage against someone who signed up just last month. In the last several weeks, new Mods have been added and there has been a lot of garbage going on in here. The Staff as of late, hasn't seemed willing to do anything but Ban trolls (ok, good) and Lock/Delete threads(understandable most times).

However,
I personally have asked a Mod (who will go un-named) to handle situations, and I was treated as if I was bothering him. I have to say If you do not want to be bothered by these things why accept this type of role?

I feel a little let down, I feel I have done a lot for this site but because some of the members have only recently come on board (Mods, Insiders, included)that they can't really appreciate the good ole days, when guys like... JTK, Writesimply, Phloyd, NYG, The Knub, Provenflipper, Deci, Chris Beverage, Kevinca1, Marzetta, myself: Brian@BBY (previous handle) and a few others were the only ones here talking daily and recruiting great posters who shared similar intellect from other reputable sites.

I really feel like the group of posters I mentioned are the ones who lifted this site off the ground and got it to the point where it raced past the sister site HD-DVD.com. Without the rampant activity from that core group, and of course the Site Owners/Admins putting in work behind the scenes, I don't feel this site would be what it is today.

I guess what I am saying is...newer members, etc...show some respect, and humility you're first 500 or so posts, and use good judgment

Thank you,
Brian
