You are mixing unlawful actions with legal administrative privileges of Open-Source OSes. Every Linux/Unix OS has an administrative root account that allows whoever access it the permitions to do whatever one wants with the OS... even erase everything in the drive. Root access wasn't meant for piracy, just to manage the OS without restrictions implemented in the OS as to prevent erasing important system files. Reverse engeneering exists for several areas to make better products, discover flaws and prevent harm on buyers by governmental departments.
As the movie being able to rival a 4K movie is just another rock on the 2D that 4K brought as the 3D format is the best for watching any movie (since well done and not just and autoconversion without quality control).
