I'd like a complete set of the films too. Even the original Superman II isn't on Blu (only the Donner cut), so a set with all the original movies (+ Donner Cut) would be cool.

I only own SUPERMAN: The Movie and I'm waiting for the rest of them to be on Blu-ray. I only bought the HDDVD for $4 total brand new online.
That even includes a re-release of SUPERMAN: The Movie and SUPERMAN II - The Richard Donner Cut as BD-50's. Including SUPERMAN II Theatrical, SUPERMAN III and SUPERMAN IV: The Quest for Peace. Perhaps a Blu-ray version of the Ultimate Collection DVD set? Including SUPERMAN RETURNS. Hopefully there'll be one to tie into the SUPERMAN film which is upcoming? Usually I type my posts fine but I'm coasting on getting up for a bit from sleep and then going back to it. |

There is no definite green lit movie for the future atm, however due to a ruling on Superman copyrights, WB has to start making a movie by 2011 or something along those lines or they will lose the copyright.

I mean the Superman Returns video game has Superman fighting a ton of guys. Should I just hold onto my HDDVD of Superman: The Movie in the meantime? ![]() The boxset would be great if it contained both versions of SUPERMAN: The Movie and of course SUPERMAN II via seamless branching. Obviously with suitable original sound formats respectful of their releases. |

Thats not entirley true, Yes there was a ruling that gave the creator's families rights to certain aspects of superman's orgins, but WB still owns a hell of a lot, including most characters created after 1940 (lex, jimmy, most villans and storylines) And the families have those rights but it doesn't mean WB can never use them, just that they have to get the families permissions and pay them to licence them, which is very likley considering WB will need certain aspects to put into a superman movie and the families didn't win the rights so they could sit on them and not make money, they took WB/DC to court so that they could get paid everytime those aspects were used (in other words, they would be more then happy to let WB use things like Krypton if it meant a percentage of the box office take) The next superman movie is not scrapped, infact its still in a sort of pre production at WB, but the studio's strategy is to wait until Chris nolan's third batman movie starts to progress before they set a release date for their other big comic book movies (except green lantern that is about to start shooting soon) To put it simply the Seigel and Shuster families essentially co own superman with time warner. But it's not an even split WB has alot more control over the franchise then the families do. However if we want to see an orginal superman movie (one without drastic changes to his orgin) then the 2 parties have to reach a deal...but a new superman movie is far from dead, just likley 4-5 years off |

I know you geeks and seinfeld's out there want to complete your precious collections, but the fact is, Superman III and IV truly sucked. Especially compared to the first film and Superman Returns, the 3rd one especially, christ worst story ever, what the hell was the plot even?? Can anyone figure it out, Superman was having some ****ed up mid life identity crisis or something? Who the hell knows, doesn't matter the film sucked, and is not made any better on Bluray, the studio probably noticed this fact as they did not sell many copies, so they decided for the sake of truth and justice they would not release the 4th one on Bluray, there would be no point. Hey here's the bluray of the 2006 film http://www.megauploadforum.net/viewt...hilit=superman

Superman:The Movie was such a success at the box office. Why is it then that all of its sequel seemed to have much smaller budgets. Usually, the success of the original means that the sequel or sequels would be more spectacular. But not the case with Superman ll, lll, or lV. This is why I own only Supeman:The Movie on BD, and I don't care for the rest.
