The movie is good, but I'm waiting for a Kino or some other release. Not a fan of those German mediabooks. But this is good news anyway.

I dislike mediabooks but definitely in for this. I have the Kino BD but it is not exactly laden with extras.

Kino in the US or maybe SS in the UK. I'll hold off a while (bit iffy on Media books too) but stoked for this.

Outstanding movie. Certified (if only by me lol) 10/10.

I’ve never purchased a Capelight title outside of Capelight’s direct store, Amazon.de or jpc.de, but to save on shipping costs, I’m interested in buying from a U.S. boutique this time around. Historically, are these limited edition Mediabooks from Capelight made available by DiabolikDVD, OrbitDVD and/or Atomic Movie Store?

Interesting. Has Mississippi Burning been given a genuine HDR grade by the studio or is this another home-brew special? Any streaming platforms with an HDR presentation?

This could’ve changed by now but the Capelight homebrew grades were done in HDR10+ and not DV. It’s also been a while since they’ve last done it, certainly since the authoring house switch last year so I assume this is indeed a genuine grade.

Didn't their home-brew The Great Escape release feature DV?

You’re right, it did. Probably the rule of thumb is that if HDR10+ is also included, it’s a homebrewed grade. The upscaled Bilitis is also HDR10+. Their releases starting with Invasions of the Body Snatchers when the new authoring house took over didn’t have HDR10+ any more.

One of my personal favorites from the 80s; watched the first 15 mins in Dolby Vision… one of the worst compressions in a long time. When you see frozen grain and artifacts in the Orion Logo font after 5 seconds… you know you’re in trouble. What a shame! Going to return it and keep the KL Blu for now.

Edit: gonna keep it for the gorgeous Mediabook and the Blu, which is fine. Another „Liberty Valance“ situation for me…

Just had a quick look as well and don't think it's a complete disaster.
Highlight encoding is a bit iffy but the rest holds up decently well. I guess I have seen a lot worse (from Paramount, Kino, etc.)

Take another look at all the macroblocking in almost every single bright, hazy (source related) background… it reminded me of the dark days of SC, Kino & Paramount.
