Hopefully this will convince more people to get Band of Brothers. Very touching, heroic, dramatic, tragic and in some parts, even funny.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade should be on the list.

No really, how about "Kelly's Heroes"? Great movie with Clint Eastwood.

Pretty sure you're right.

The war was against the Germans, not the Nazis.

Might be a distinction without a difference, though.

They were all nazi's, but it's obvious that many of the grunts in the field and even higher echelon officers didn't share the same zeal for the cause as people like Hitler, Goebbles, Goerring, Himler, etc.

Riff, not quite true. The NAZIs were a far right political party that had all the koo-koo beliefs. Your average military grunt was just a guy that joined or was drafted. I am sure there were soldiers that were party members, but you didnt have to be a member to be in the military. The average German grunt just wanted to go home, just like the average American GI.

The SS
The NAZIs
The Military

3 different entities.

Semantics, but that was pretty much what i was getting at. The NAZI party was the umbrella that everyone else fell under, whether they really personally believed all the nonsense or not. Yeah, towards the end of the war Hitler wasn't nearly as picky about who was doing his fighting.

Correct sir, the SS and Nazi were not ground solders or infantry. American solders only encountered SS in Berlin otherwise they just fought the regular German Army.

Back on topic..

I would say...Mel Brooks, To Be or Not to Be..

Well I'll stir the pot. Yes there is a distinction between regular units and Waffen SS units. SS units were the elite troops having sworn allegiance to Hitler. They committed most of the atrocities in the war. That said, military-wise they were also some of the finest soldiers ever known and tactically won almost all their engagements right up to the end of the war. Of course it didn't hurt that they were also supplied with the best weaponry.
