Exclamation List of UHDs with an Analog Intermediate process

This list will contain 4K UHD Blu-rays that got an Analog Intermediate.

An Analog Intermediate is a process where the DI (Digital Intermediate) is printed out to film and then again scanned back to digital files. This gives digital shot movies a real film grain layer and a certain look.

Godzilla x Kong? That's surprising. Definitely doesn't seem the type of movie for this process.

Wingard added a fake grain layer to The Guest for its 4K master so it's safe to say he's a fan of such things.

Unpopular opinion: Disney should have done it for all CAPS Blu-rays.

I like the look of the CAPS filmouts but it does make sense to go from the digital source.

Not necessarily.

Despite being crafted digitally, they were supposed to be watched on film. And film can help blend those CGI inserts.

Sorry to ask this, but why not just film it on regular film stock instead going digital first?

For Dune they said they didn't feel the look of film fit what they had in mind. They thought film looked too "nostalgic", and they were after a more modern look, they just wanted to make it a little softer.

Why didn't they shoot with anamorphic lenses then?

They did for most of the first one. They went all-spherical for the second to maximize the amount of time IMAX screens could be filled up with the full ratio.

For smaller films (like Smile) it's a cheaper option.

And there's also the fact that there are only a few film stocks still available nowadays... Sometimes the specific look you want can't achieved on film anymore.

I think we should add The Boy and the Heron (aka. How Do You Live?) here (albeit with an asterisk).
The film was animated digitally, and Studio Ghibli did make 35mm filmouts, but the disc and digital releases (as well as the digital prints) have an artificial film filter to make the films look like 35mm film.
Strangely, they didn't scan the film to 35mm, but that's probably so they can have fuller control over the colours and luminance in a digital realm.
I get where Studio Ghibli is coming from, especially as they really wanted to take advantage of HDR with Kimitachi and Earwig, but making filmouts and manipulating THOSE for HDR and the intended colours would have been much better IMO.

I would also add the following here:
- Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
- The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (the earlier Blu-ray releases, including the one packaged with the 4K UHD, is a pure digital source albeit with messed-up colours)
- South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut

If it's not been printed to film and scanned back in then it shouldn't be here.
