Or you could just order a 2nd one from WM.

Once the user posted the thing about the dubs, I decided to keep B&N.

Then the other user came along and said they have same UPC, so should be good with the WM one. With steelbooks, I have gotten in the habit of ordering 2 if I think it may sell out, especially since so many arrive with some damage.

I put the Godzilla Minus One 4K Steelbook in my cart this morning at Walmart and normally id have purchased it right away but I needed one more small item for the free shipping and I must have spent a solid 10 minutes looking for some candy and the next thing I knew the Steelbook sold out and Walmart removed it from my order. I quickly went to the item page and sure enough it was sold out. I refreshed my page quickly a number of times and it came back in stock, I have never made a purchase so quickly and it was a successful purchase and I cannot wait to see this film for the first time! All Smiles.

I hope so too. I managed to get an order in when it first went up at Walmart at the lower price.

But I placed a second back-up order on Amazon in case the one from Walmart gets cancelled or arrives damaged in the mail. (My copy of The Fall Guy steelbook from WM arrived bent in those cardboard mailers. haha) Also, I know a member on here mentioned Gruv cancelling pre-orders, so it's better to be safe than sorry as you never know.

I absolutely loved this film, so I hope I don't miss out on this steel.

Dang, I was not expecting Toho to release the same exact deluxe version from Japan with English subtitles. I'm glad I imported it though so I didn't had to deal with this limited time release that I would had missed out.

Surprising to see The First Slam Dunk as his number 1! I’m a huge basketball fan. I have seen it for sale here and there, but had no idea it was supposed to be that good. I may have to order that.

Minus One is #3, huh? I respect that. I’m not gonna lie though, I even enjoyed Barbie more than Minus One.

I would guess he's being over-dramatic (not that I've seen the dub myself), but I have seen exactly what he's describing with some other releases with garbage subtitles. I remember in particular the subtitles on the initial American blu-ray release of "Let the Right One In" being trash that literally translated things instead of trying to communicate what the dialogue originally meant. The version I'd seen in theaters before had actually had localization done - it was like reading well-written dialogue between characters instead of dialogue that read like something that would be spoken by a robot over the PA in a grocery store. It was bad enough I re-bought the disc as soon as they released a version with "Theatrical subtitles." Same deal with Princess Mononoke and the initial dubtitles release from Disney in this country.

Like, check out one of those classic videos with the chinese subtitles for movies translated back to english to see how ridiculous bad subtitles can change the intended meaning while preserving the literal meaning of dialogue. It's especially bad when you come to culturally specific idioms. Like, for examples from english, the many terms we have that are baseball or football metaphors that make no sense to anyone from other countries.

A dub is likely just going to erase all of those and replace them either with dumb literal dialogue or some reference that would actually make sense to the people who speak the language of the dub. And if the English script was written by people who didn't bother with quality localization, it's very possible the dialogue would seem idiotic compared to a good set of subtitles.

That isn't true. There are two English subtitle options on Netflix. English and English CC. The former are the theatrical subtitles.

I think the English CC one might be the one that's there by default, so some may be watching the movie without the theatrical subs without knowing it.
