yo Dragon what do you think of the latest BA news? I am irritated that it got to this point but I think this is a new strategy from Lynch and Shanny. They are entertaining offers and letting him negotiating with teams - which he turned down a rumored $2.5m annually a year that the Niners offered, which signals he wants to play on a contender and not a rebuilding team. Haven't heard any Browns news but the Steelers were said to be the other contender but only want to give up picks and the Niners are seeking an impact player plus picks.
I am glad they are asking a kings ransom, they should be as its another SB or bust year, picks don't make sense now.
Some are saying that its gotta be a three team trade for the other parties to make sense - Niners getting an impact player plus picks.
At the end of the day, I am fine with him staying or leaving at the right price. He still has no leverage.
Lost in all of this is Trent holding out, they gotta figure that out still, sheesh.

Still the same, I’m ok if he leaves or stays (prefer to keep him). I like that the 49ers want a player in return and not just picks. Like you said, the team is all in on making it back to the SB, picks alone won’t do any good this season. Amari Cooper is rumored with the Browns, Kendrick Bourne was rumored with the Patriots before they pulled out (no thanks), and a possible trade with Pittsburgh is dependent upon a player in return. I just hope this gets resolved either way before the season starts.

Trent Williams is tricky. He’s 36 and wants a new contract/more money….. Big hole to fill if/when he retires.

NYJ DE Haasan Reddick asked the team for a trade, as he wants a new contract. Team quickly said no and released a statement saying they expect him to report to the team and will continue to fine him until he reports.

JJ McCarthy To Undergo Surgery Sam Darnold to Start for Minnesota

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said J.J. McCarthy will undergo knee surgery.

The team had been cagey with McCarthy’s supposed knee soreness following his outstanding preseason debut against the Raiders. McCarthy will require surgery on a torn meniscus. O’Connell said the severity of the injury is not yet known, and he offered no timeline for the rookie’s return to action. This all but guarantees Sam Darnold will start the regular season under center for Minnesota. Darnold completed four of eight throws for 59 yards in the team’s preseason opener against Vegas.

Aiyuk Saga Coming to a Close

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports the 49ers are nearing a trade with the Steelers.

In a wild turn of events, Aiyuk may be headed to Pittsburgh after all. The 49ers and Steelers have agreed to a deal and the latter is in a good place on a contract with Aiyuk. Rapoport also says that the 49ers have made another offer to Aiyuk, but he has yet to accept. If San Francisco signs off, then Aiyuk will finally be a Pittsburgh Steeler, stay tuned.

Schefter and Rapaport are the only ones reporting this and in very broad terms, no details on what PIT is giving up - only that BA has a framework of a contract in place with PIT.
The difference is said to be $2m annually between what SF is offering vs. PIT, which then poses the question of what BA values more - that extra $2m (though taxes between CA and PA do add up) vs. playing on a SB contender.
All the SF beat writers are very quiet right now and most lean toward BA and SF calling each other's bluff and that a deal between the two sides still gets done.

Kind of baffling to me because imo there is not a better team in the league that drafts at the WR position. I will be shocked if this is not at best a 2nd rounder and a throw in late rounder to sweeten the pot. I think a first rounder is just too much with also having to pay this guy a boat load of cash up front.

Yeah, basically 49ers have an offer for Aiyuk and an out in the Steelers. The trade is dependent upon if he accepts this new offer or not. It’s basically up to Aiyuk where he wants to play from my understanding.

this, from ESPN, tells me that both sides want to get a deal done but both are just playing hardball

The situation could lead to several outcomes, including Aiyuk staying with the 49ers and playing out the fifth-year option on his rookie deal that would pay him $14.124 million. Sources also told ESPN last week that other teams are willing to pay Aiyuk more than twice as much as his fifth-year option but that he has balked so far at multiple offers.
