Wonder if Eureka will be releasing a UK edition? Either way, this is one of my favorite movies. I will definitely be picking it up when it's on sale.

I doubt it. I'd say it's more likely to go OOP from them sooner than later.

Is there basically no chance that "What's Up Doc" will ever be released in 4K?

Is that weird that I always had a 100% feeling that Criterion will release it on 4K one day?

There may be hope. Along with a few other older titles like Friends of Eddie Coyle, Gate of Hell, White Dog, Eureka have updated the listings on their website with the new BBFC ratings... would tend to imply they are pressing new copies, so I hope a 4K for Paper Moon is not out of the question.

That's a reassuring sign at least that they probably aren't going OOP soon at least, as it seems like they've been losing so many titles from their studio deals the last few years. We'll have to wait and see if Paramount grants them 4K rights. Even Arrow couldn't make a deal at all with Paramount for the UK for whatever reason.

Always wanted to see this. Especially after knowing Tatum O'Neal won an Oscar for it and reading how much of a dick Ryan was to her. Looks good. Definitely have to pick it.up during a sale.

Texasville and now Paper Moon, now we just need Mask and Nickelodeon
Noises Off... is a great little comedy as well, though it'd probably be more fitting for Kino. The Cat's Meow is also pretty good.

Every coupla years I send Criterion my wish list for new releases. I just sent my latest list last weekend and put Paper Moon 4K at the top. They must’ve laughed if they saw it.

This announcement has made my day. It’s a PERFECT film. Zero room for improvement in every department. Direction, editing, casting, art direction, cinematography and scripting are superlative. And it contains one of the most quotable supporting characters in any movie ever (Imogene, played by PJ Johnson). “I tried to push her out a window in Little Rock.” “I knows you like it hot, Miz Trixie.” “Oh she’s okay. She’s jes’ havin’ her ladies’ time.” “You know that lil’ white speck on top o’ chicken doodle…?”

I’m just sorry Criterion missed Paper Moon’s 50th Anniversary last year, when Ryan was still with us. It really is his best performance.

Do you really have a top 100 list? I have a txt file with a bunch of titles that pop into my head from time to time that I try not to forget about.

This was definitely in there, probably twice

Yeah, I keep a running Word document and move purchased titles down to the bottom and shuffle them around as needed. Truthfully it's currently a Top 100 + 6 stragglers that didn't quite make the cut, though they'll eventually move up of course.

I'm a sick man.
