Universal Studios Ted (2023) Season One Blu-ray

Universal will be releasing the first season of the television series Ted (2024) from Seth MacFarlane, on Blu-ray on September 10th through MOD distribution (pressed discs). The show originally aired on Peacock.

Quote:
By 1993, Ted the foul-mouthed teddy bear's moment of fame has passed. He's moved back in with his best friend, likable but awkward 16-year-old John Bennett, who lives in a working-class Boston home with his parents, Matty and Susan, and cousin Blaire. Matty's a blustering, blue-collar Bostonian who thinks he's the unequivocal boss of the house and doesn't like anyone challenging him, particularly his liberal-minded niece. Susan is kind, selfless and almost pathologically sweet when it comes to caring for her family. Blaire is a smart and politically correct college student who's not afraid to speak her mind and frequently clashes with her more traditionalist family.

Yeah it was renewed for season 2 not long after season 1 debuted.

Loved the show, I never laughed so hard since The Office and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Debating on picking this up since I have both Ted Movies and Flash Gordon

Please let Scott Pilgrim Takes Off come next

Same production company (Universal Content Productions), show itself is implied to be owned by Universal and not Netflix if merchandise copyrights are anything to go off of

Awesome, I've been checking in for a while hoping that this would get a Blu-ray release. I'll be interested to see if there any bonus features as well! Can't wait for Season 2!

I hope they included the Japanese dub (since it's an anime animated by Science Saru).

From the low quality back cover I've seen it looks like the Blu-ray will have the same lossy audio as the dvd. Hope it's just a printing error.

I had more fun with this show than I thought I would! I'll be in for grabbing this release.

Really need to watch this. The movies were hilarious. First one we got to see in a dollar theater at the very tail end when it was still 35mm and so the picture looked grindhouse with all sorts of print damage, but it was so much fun.

Thank goodness. I absolutely love the movies, and the show was just as good. Each episode had me laughing out loud so much. I’m so glad that I’ll be able to actually own it (I don’t have Peacock and only subbed for a month to watch the show).

Did not realize Ted had been spun off into a series.

Doesn't sound like something that would work but the reactions in this thread have me intrigued. I'll check it out.

I had doubts too (a big part was because I loved the movies so much) but they absolutely pulled it off. It's so funny from start to finish. I haven't laughed like that in years.

Also my favorite thing in it is in the movies Patrick Stewart was the narrator but in the show Ian McKellen does the narration.

Pre-order is live on Amazon.. $30.

I’m not.. proud of the fact I’m willing to spend that much on it and I may cancel if the price doesn’t drop before release, but at the same time I want to show that there’s plenty of support for shows debuting on streaming services getting a physical release at all, let alone a Blu-ray. (Plus I’ll definitely watch this more than enough times to justify the price).

I made myself laugh because I refuse to pay $27+ for the new Frasier first season DVD but I’m more comfortable paying more than that for this season which has less episodes lol

I'd be eager to buy a home video release of SPTO, but I'm also disheartened by the strong possibility that Universal will simply release the set barebones like this Ted S1 release among others.

I don't like the current mindset imposed by studios that we should be thankful we get physical releases of season sets at all in this free-for-all streaming era. Especially growing up in the DVD and early Blu-Ray generation where studios would be generous with bonus content. Heck, they could go as far as porting podcasts into their home video releases, and nowadays they couldn't bother to do that much. Maybe it's a budget issue, maybe they can no longer afford a crew to produce bonus content, but whatever's the reason, I don't like the state of most current TV releases.

Preservation is key, I can respect that on principal, but why go for the bare minimum?

I bought this because I love the show and physical media, but does it actually look better than the 4k stream on Peacock? I was disappointed it was not put out on 4k UHD
