I laugh everytime someone starts some buy XYZ disks on such a day. The only thing this does is stop zealots from buying two weeks before and two weeks after the magic date.

You get a nice pop on that day, perhaps that week, but you lose a lot of sales before and after that.

Other than psychological boosts, this means little. The right thing to do is to simply buy movies only when you want to watch it, not to support some sales crusade.
