The adjustable beds I use in my HT have zoned massage motors that are actually more effective than one would think... but they make way too much noise. I would never use them during a movie but they are pretty soothing in winter while I'm watching my Leafs lose in increasingly painful ways..LOL..
During movies, the Dayton Audio transducers and 4 subwoofers provide the visceral oomph..

You have beds in your HT? Is your HT in the bedroom? If not, tell me more!

I couldn't find anything in HT chairs that were comfortable... so I replaced my front row with adjustable beds...

It looks like hell.. but when the lights go down in my pitch black cave... IT'S AWESOME!!

I often use headphones for Video Games because those are upstairs.

Thankfully, the Home Theater is built for movies in the basement so the sounds don't bother anyone ever.

I have done in the past, and it’s a personal and great experience, but it doesn’t compare with Atmos, which that member was claiming in the past.

All I said was that the Sony L600 that I have Simulate 7.1- Channel Surround Sound designed by Dolby Audio, to give that Immersive Theater like experience. So if I'm listening to Dolby Atmos content it will give me that Immersive Experience!

I also use headphones when watching movies at night and they do provide a decent surround experience. But even with my mid-tier Atmos sound bar (with surround speakers and sub) the difference is night and day. I can't imagine how much better a true Atmos setup sounds.

Some have asked if I have bass shakers attached to my theater seating, I do not, the shaking is purely acoustical.

Have you watched “Civil War”? The battle scenes towards the end will give ALL your speakers a workout. Did not care for the movie but may buy just for demo use. I believe gotmule has already commented on the sound track as well.

Yes Sir! The final battle may be the Atmos demo of the year for disc releases.

With the upcoming move, I will have to say goodbye to my 15’ wide couch with two big ottomans as my room will be about 14” narrower, but two feet longer and it will not quite fit with having the side surrounds in their correct location. It is for sure like watching a movie in bed, so I can relate to your choice of seating. In the new room, I am leaning towards theater seating and looking at some Row One options with 5 seats without all the LED lighting. The acoustic benefit will be that I say goodbye to a 6’ by 6’ bass trap that is two ottomans in the middle of the room.

Like Wendell, I rely on movement of air to energize the room and to move me and anything else in the room. I have been in a few rooms with shakers and the timing of them was always off with the audio of an explosion being out of sync with the shake….and that drove me nuts. I know it can be adjusted, but the owners of the rooms never picked up on it.

No, haven't seen it yet. But it is on mt list. Unless it's just not at all what I'm expecting I will more than likely add the 4K to my collection.

I totally get what you mean about the timing of the shakers from the subs..

My wife lost me for 4 whole days last year ( I literally took time off work) when I upgraded my amp to go with 6 overhead channels. I wrongly assumed that as long as I stayed within DOLBY's speaker placement guidelines, I'd be golden as I was merely switching out one DENON for another (4500 for 6700). I couldn't have been more wrong...

The move required a complete re-calibaration of the whole room from the ground up... Days of test tones and pouring over graphs just to re-achieve my ATMOS bubble..

One of the biggest surprises was my low end...To this day, I'm not sure why I had to reposition my subs and rethink how I handle LFE out of my amp, but in the end, I got there by using a miniDSP to time- align one of my amps outputs to the 4 subs. I then can simply use the other to directly drive the transducers and adjust AUDYSSEY's timing for that one output. The results are perfect.

I see that the newer DENON amps have 4 distinct sub outs but I'm in no rush to go down that rabbit hole again

....at least not until I start to wonder what benefit I could be getting from going with a full blown 9.4.4 setup with front wides...LOL..

This hobby can be frustrating and full of head scratching moments and gremlins presenting themselves, but it is oh so worth it when everything is dialed in.

Was my first ever time in a dolby cinema. we have a handful here, but most are outside of my driving bubble. this one was only 20 min away. the IMAX is half that , and dolby was more expensive and the concession prices were obscene(and this is coming from someone who goes to the movies twice a week), but i'd do it again for the right movie.

I watched a DVD for the first time in a long time last night. It was a movie called Far North with Michelle Yeoh and Sean Bean. It was actually really good imo. I am surprised that this has never been put out on Blu-ray. It's not even available in Apple or Vudu, much less even in HD. I wonder why. It's a shame this never came out on Blu-ray, good film.

Please let me know if anyone knows where I can acquire this film on Blu-ray or even an HD digital copy.

It's available on Amazon Prime to rent or buy, but only in SD.

What are you talking about, if the Movie is only available DVD SD, then the Streaming File will only be SD. I have always said the Streaming Files are the same as the Disc Files!
